Yet you claimed that if the bluebird went, you'd stop supporting?

Even though it's only a emblem?

Just playing devil's advocate here.

A colour and emblem are two different things entirely. Nike ain't Nike without the Nike tick but a blue t shirt or yellow t shirt with a Nike tick on it is still Nike. Emblems mean more. They are what you are remembered by. When people see a certain emblem their mind associates with a particular organisation, club, business. A colour dont have the same effect as colours are used by many. A logo is special, a colour aint.

In your mind maybe. For me I'd rather the blue. It's all about opinions.

Cardiff didnt always have the bluebird.

You imply in your post that you're a real fan because you don't support a colour, are you trying to say that those who want the team back in blue aren't real fans? If so, poor show!

Anyone who turns their back on the team over a colour ain't real fans IMO. Thats just my opinion as you said, all about opinions.

Bluebird to me is different to me. Its our emblem. If Nike gets rid of the Nike tick it aint Nike. If Lacoste get rid of the Aligator they aint Lacoste. Simple as that really. Business is all about logos and identifiability associated with that particular logo.

Ill always be a City fan , can't be anything else, it's part of my identity and itll be very painful to stop but can't support the rebrand.

This whole issue has decided fans like no other.

We've all got principles and our breaking points about certain things, I certainly prefer blue to red, but can't see the point in bleating on about it all the time, when there's nothing that can be done about it!

Yes, you have done far more than me and probably most of our fans evidently, but then the rebranding doesn't irk me as much as you or some other fans, because Cardiff City is more than a colour or a badge to me and when I first went to watch us play as a kid, I can't even remember if I knew that we played in blue or not!

I went to watch Cardiff City, as they were my local team to the Rhondda and it was Cardiff City who I supported, not because we played in blue and not because we had a Bluebird as the main focal point on our badge!

You support your local club like me but a HUGE part of the identity of our club is blue and subsequently the bluebird, which was adopted by our fans as our nickname during a different era, a different generation. I'm proud of that! The fact that we chose our emblem, influenced our badge in later years after naming ourselves the bluebirds. That is what identity is all about, something to cherish. Not for some though eh . That's what I find most galling

Agree totally how can anybody that has an affection towards CCFC disagree with what you just said .The identity of the club is the platform for all the pride and passion we give.I used to stair at the bluebird badge from the bob bank when I was a kid I was and still am so proud it represents Cardiff City .well it used to until Tan,s empire took over and through it all in the bin .Disgraceful.

To the OP Yes - we will be back in blue, but not for the foreseeable future.

I have seen 4 badges in my time, various shades of blue home kits, christ knows how many away and recently 3rd kits. All the time were Cardiff City.

Chants change, kits change, fans change, grounds change, fortunes change and owners change. The one thing that hasn't changed in 105 years is the name, we are Cardiff City........

If its not your Cardiff City any more sorry but evolution means it will be somebody else's.

Re: do you think you'll ever see cardiff city in blue again

Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:45 pm

The first thing a new owner would do is revert to blue, and bin the badge. It's an instant way to win over the fans and make a good impression. Why wouldn't they? I doubt any owner would give a **** about 'luck', Malaysia, Dragons etc besides Tan.

I don't see how this is even a question. Of course we will be back in blue.

You say that it's a CCFC message board and we can all have a difference of opinion, which is cool, but you stated that, after you accused me of being worryingly weird, merely because I don't feel as strong about the changes as you! :?

There lies the problem with this rebrand argument being brought up time after time, nobody on here can do anything to change it and posters get called names, or accused of being weird, purely because they don't follow other people's ideals!

Still can't see why anybody gets so stressed over something which they've got no control over, I've got far more things to worry about, which I may be able to do something about!

You are worryingly weird how can you be so flippant so you dont give a f**k.Weird I support this club with a great pride and passion shame you dont give that same passion for the club.

I wasn't being flippant and respect everybody's views on the rebrand, but it's been done to death, there's nothing that you or I can do about it, so why worry about it and keep on bleating about it?

It is worrying though, that you seem to worry so much about this topic and think that I'm weird, with all the other shit things going on in this world!

its called supporting the thing you love and I am allowed to talk about things Cardiff city on here after all its a ccfc message board .We all have a difference of opinion and thats cool we are allowed that but we are also allowed to disagree.

I think people should support the club but to change so much for non reason for me is wrong and the moment I shut up is the day Tan wins so I like lots of people ain't going nowhere.

Who asked you to shut up and to stop supporting the thing you love? :?

You say that it's a CCFC message board and we can all have a difference of opinion, which is cool, but you stated that, after you accused me of being worryingly weird, merely because I don't feel as strong about the changes as you! :?

There lies the problem with this rebrand argument being brought up time after time, nobody on here can do anything to change it and posters get called names, or accused of being weird, purely because they don't follow other people's ideals![/quote]

Ok we will agree to disagree just annoys me to see another fan being so care free if you believe in something then to me its worth fighting for and that definitely applies to are blue kit and badge of Cardiff City.

I don't think that we will ever see us in blue again if they change the seat colour in the stadium. It will be costly to change them to red, so to change them back non long after will probably be unrealistic cost anyone would pay.

This season really don't expect to see us wear the blue away kit again unless there's a colour clash i can't think of one. I think the excuse Barry the media manager gave, that it was the players choice to wear black was a load of shite. Clearly it was dictated by VT or one of his aides and is another example of the club taking fans for fools!

I hate everything about the rebrand and the messy way it was implemented. At the time I thought it was red or if not dead, struggle financially, sell players etc. What I don't understand is that there are people who are much more vocal against the changes and even refuse to support the club, however why didn't they organise a protest against the rebrand? I think a large number of people like me who hated the changes but were worried about the future of the club would probably have joined. I also think that a structured protest would have got people who were sitting on the fence about the rebrand on board. However nothing ever came about and because of the success on the pitch a lot of opposition has been nipped in the bud.

If its not your Cardiff City any more sorry but evolution means it will be somebody else's.

one other thing that never changed was the colour

glad you are confident blue will be back but i fear your confidence is misplaced

Not at home no

At least not while Tan is our owner, and its been said here, that if we do get to the Prem and get global exposure as a team with red colours, the new identity will be complete, you cant disagree with that  Then no new owner will want to change us back if that happens, as by then the new generations of city fans that have come through will be red through and through and will have no affinity to blue.

I suspect even us staunch blue army crusaders are dwindling, but not me. It means so much more to me. But am realist enough to know i am flogging a dead horse by fighting it under this regime. However Our league position softens the disappointment.

the club obviously means different things to different people but i'm interested in your take on it if they never wear blue again

Still doing the rounds trying to whip up support?

Get over yourself.

We could have easily worn our blue away kit at Blackpool but didn't. As soon as the players came out I said to my mate "where's our blue away kit?" TLG has done a post on the other message board and I think he's spot on sadly http://www.ccmb.co.uk/fudforum/index.ph ... rt=0&rid=0 :(
