This is just another example of the ruling classes using our lads to fight illegal wars. To them we are cannon fodder they really don't give a f**k. :old:

Paul Weller had it right.

"These days I find that I can't be bothered
These days I find that it's all too much
To pick up a gun and shoot a stranger
But I've got no choice so here I come, war games

I'm up on the hills, playing little boy soldiers
Reconnaissance duty up at 5:30
Shoot, shoot, shoot and kill the natives
You're one of us and we love you for that

Think of honor, Queen and country
You're a blessed son of the British Empire
God's on our side and so is Washington

Come out on the hills with the little boy soldiers
Come up on the hills with the little boy soldiers
Come out on the hills by little boy soldiers

Come on outside, I'll sing you a lullaby
Or tell a tale how goodness prevailed
We ruled the world, we killed and robbed
The f*cking lot but we don't feel bad

It was done beneath the flag of democracy
You'll believe and I do, yes, I do, yes, I do
Yes, I do, yes, I do, yes, I do, oh

These days I find that I can't be bothered
To argue with them, well, what's the point?
Better to take your shots and drop down dead
Then they send you home in a pine overcoat
With a letter to your mum

Saying find enclosed one son
One medal and a note to say he won " :ayatollah:

I dont think the troops were under orders to recklessly shoot to kill unarmed civilians

This is one of my all time favourite classic Jam songs and the lyrics are superb and illustrate how young boys are sent to fight and die in wars and conflicts throughout history by the Goverment and ruling classes.

there's a couple of good songs bout that topic:

MARILLION - Forgotten Sons

Armalite, street lights, night sights
Searching the roofs for a sniper, a viper, a fighter
Death in the shadows he'll maim you, he'll wound you, he'll kill you
For a long forgotten cause, on not so foreign shores
Boys baptized in war, boys baptized in war

Morphine, chill scream, bad dream
Serving as numbers on dog tags, flak rags, sand bags
Your girl has married your best friend, loves end, poison pen
Your flesh will always creep, tossing turning sleep
The wounds that burn so deep, burn so deep

Your mother sits on the edge of the world
When the cameras start to roll,
Panoramic viewpoint resurrect the killing fold
Your father drains another beer, he's one of the few that cares
Crawling behind a Saracen's hull from the safety of his living room chair

Forgotten sons, forgotten sons, forgotten sons

And so as I patrol in the valley of the shadow of the Tricolor
I must fear evil, for I am but mortal and mortals can only die
Asking questions, pleading answers
From the nameless faceless watchers
That parade the carpeted corridors of Whitehall

Who orders desecration, mutilation
Verbal masturbation in the guarded bureaucratic wombs
Minister, Minister care for your children
Order them not into damnation
To eliminate those who would trespass against you
For whose is the kingdom, the power, the glory for ever and ever

Amen!

Halt who goes there
Death
Approach friend

You're just another coffin, on its way down the Emerald Isle
When your children's stony glances mourn
Your death in a terrorist's smile
The bomber's arm placing fiery gifts on the supermarket shelves
Alley sings with shrapnel detonate a temporary hell

Forgotten sons, forgotten sons

From the dole queue to the regiment a profession in a flash
But remember, Monday signings went from door to door you dash
On the news a nation mourns you unknown soldier count the cost
For a second you'll be famous but labeled posthumous

Forgotten son, forgotten son, forgotten son, forgotten son
They're still forgotten, they're still, still forgotten
Peace on earth and mercy mild, Mother Brown has lost her child
Just another forgotten son

NEW MODEL ARMY - Spirit of the Falklands

The natives are restless tonight, sir
Cooped up on estates with no hope in sight
They need some kind of distraction
We can give them that
'Cause they'd die if they only had something to die for
They'd kill if they only had something to kill for
They'd cheer if they only had something to cheer for
We can give them that
So it's off to war we go (I couldn't believe it)
Bring out all the flags (I never believed it)
Fight the good fight

It's working like a dream, sir
Half the nation are hooked on the bait
Waiting for the next victorious instalment
We can give them that
'Cause it's no surprise that young men are heroes
It's no surprise that young men are strong
It's no surprise that young men are foolish
We've known that all along
Exciting pictures on News at Ten (I couldn't believe it)
Read all the crap on all the front pages (I never believed it)
Fight the good fight

Ch: There's dead men in the South Atlantic
It's meant to warm our hearts
They think that they died for you and me
Oh God, what a farce, what a farce

And now it's the repeats
Plugging the Falklands and the Falklands' spirit
Show the pictures again and again
Till the next war comes around
'Cause we'll die if we only have something to die for
We'll kill if we only have something to kill for
We'll cheer if we only have something to cheer for
That is worthy of the name
Oh yes the next war (I never believed it)
See the propaganda in TV fiction (I never believed it)
Enemies with horns and tails

Ch: There are dead men in the South Atlantic
It's meant to warm our hearts
They think that they died for you and me
Oh God, what a farce, what a farce
There's crippled men back home in England
Doesn't it warm your hearts?
They think they fought for peace and freedom
Poor boys, what a farce, what a farce

I'd hope not MAESTEG BLUE.

As mentioned on other posts in this thread, to some Celtic fans the British military are still seen as the enemy.

The outcome of the enquiry into Bloody Sunday and the guilt of trigger happy British troops during that demonstration mean that for many the wounds are still raw.

Only my opinion but I think it's time that both loyalists/nationalists moved on completely but there will still be some on both sides that are dinosaurs.

200 million pounds of British taxpayers money to fund a report into Bloody Sunday

Lord Saville and all the most prestigious ENGLISH barristers have lined their pockets during this enquiry.

None of the officers will face any reprimands but the paratroopers who are made up of the ordinary people, just like us will probably be branded as murderers and made examples of.

It's ALL just SO wrong.

It's time to banish the monarchy

I started this post to try and explain why SOME Celtic fans slag the troops n Afghanistan.

It's not an excuse it's just one of the reasons.

The Bloody Sunday Massacre incited many of the Provos actions. The Loyalists did it for the financial gain of the Crown.

If Cardiff City fans slag Celtic and the Irish i fel I have the right to reply.

Finally it was interesting to hear that the media are refeering Derry by it's proper original name agin.

Doire...........the time is coming :ayatollah:

Fish, I think you're mixing up the terms condemn with condone.

Condemn means that you are critical of something, whereas condone means you approve of something.

So basically I was saying that not many Rangers fans or so called loyalists on here criticise loyalist violence like they do with republican violence. That's why I think they are hypocritical.

we dont need to follow the english clubs like chelsea and leeds and birmingham, who have this sort of silly political stuff going on

if you were older , you would remember there was lots of it going on , also at portsmouth , millwall

its all stupid, bringing sectarain politics into football when it has nothing to do with us

And thats nice for all other city fans?

Then we agree to some extent. :ayatollah:

However, few of the loyalists/Rangers fans here condemn loyalist violence. :(

When has anyone said this?

Some Celtic fans are those from the likes of West Belfast who had suffered during the troubles and will never forgive the way the British army had treated them, I would not be atall surprised if the Guardian is deflecting a due criticism from the bloody sunday report in which the government has already admitted that the shootings by Paras was illegal.

Its so easy to stereotype, like all City fans are thugs. Some should really get off their high horses and stop throwing stones

i`m a cardiff fan richard and i`m embarrassed by some of the idiotic stuff written on this thread! i`m really glad my war mongering government as finally apologized for illegally shooting innocent irish lifes! .... and the soldier thhat killed 4 of the 13 should be jailed for life for the murders, the trigger happy c**t!
