Agreed. I only recently joined this board and there must have been dozens of threads about NML which I haven’t read. Forgive me if this has been suggested before but the rumour I was told is that he had been participating in cage fighting, bare knuckle boxing or something similar.

To make us feel better if he does sign for Derby, we can console ourselves that he will be 29 in April which isn’t young for a footballer. (How many of us would live to wake up that age again tomorrow!!). Also, being hefty he may have gained considerable weight being out of training and lost much of his fitness. He’s unlikely to be anywhere near their starting line up for at least 8 weeks. That would be my take on this.

100% not true :thumbright:

Fair enough and thanks, Annis

Your welcome Ross, just clearing up all the rumours.

He also was never dealt with by the Police, it was internal and EFL charges.

Chris, perhaps he was doing 34mph in a 30 like I got stung for recently!

 ;)

Some on here eh?

Realy unfair if a club seems to do the right thing and another club benefits from it.

You naughty boy, you...!

Hopefully you got an invite to be educated, as my partner did recently?

The initial reports of what NML had done appear to be well wide of the wicket; but the simple fact is that the club were awae of it and acted on it within he rules and with the backing of the appropriate authorities

I am confident that Derby and/or Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough will be aware of the issue and will have taken all into account

Will he make a notable comeback? Maybe in part but I'm not convinced he will be the 'returning star' some on here woukd have us think

What I do know id that our club have acted with both discretion and dignity in keeping it under wraps and by 'doing the right thing' even if it cost them in the longer term :thumbright:

You know I am no fan of our committee and they usually get 99% of everything wrong. But this time they got it 100% right :thumbright:
They had no other choice , he had not learnt his lesson from the first time, 6month ban this time. We paid his wages last time on the smaller ban, so enough is enough.

Sounds to me that he probably missed an official FA drugs screening appointment, probably not for the first time either? I don’t know, but that’s what it seems to me?

If he does return for another team do you believe that the fans have a right for some clarification on the exact reason for his dismissal?

Wasnt saying you Annis, just those replies that were posted frim fb.

In truth, for you to say the committee were 100% right, says enough for me!

Why did club pay his wages the 1st time? Seems they looked after him,and he then shat on the club, and us as fans!

I liked him as a player, but goes to show, he had no affinity or affection for us and has cost the club financially.shame on him I say,and the correct decision made by the club.

To think some would have him back in a flash regardless!!
He's shat on us all.good riddance I say.

I am not sure I agree as a supporter from 1963 to now. Look, we don’t have to be told anything - it’s none of our business. We have signed players with troubled pasts before (no need to mention names). If NML can physically still play well for us, my opinion as a fan is that he should be reinstated. If he’d broken UK law, we would know something by now. Just my thoughts but we have recruited so many players who barely played because of their injuries and we should stick with someone who is a known commodity and allow the club “HR” manage him better.

Why should Boro or County benefit at our expense?

MENDEZ-LAING HEADING FOR BORO

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is on his way to Middlesbrough for a medical after they agreed personal terms with the winger.

He is a free agent after having his contract terminated by Cardiff on the eve of the new season, for what manager Neil Harris at the time called a “serious breach of contract.”

He was sacked, for a serious breach of contract, yet he should be allowed to stay? Annis has pointed to the fact he had a previous 3 month ban, and the club paid his wages during it,then he pays them back how? Dont like the fact some other yeam will benefit, but the decision was the correct one for the club,he had chances, and couldnt be trusted obviously.

Very valuable asset is NML, if he stays good that's great business for Boro. But a 3rd incident will probably come with a 12 to 24 month ban, that's career ending with no value.

Another question is will Vincent Tan chase to sue like Chelsea did with Mutu.

We all know our owner loves a good court case!

Yeah eventually after 5 years and many appeals, he paid 14.7 million. To be fair tho, they paid a lot more for Mutu than we did for NML

MENDEZ-LAING A BORO BOY

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has joined Middlesbrough, linking up again with manager Neil Warnock. The two won promotion to the Premier League together with Cardiff City in 2018.

Mendez-Laing has been without a club since September, having been released by the Bluebirds.

Warnock said: “I know Mendez well and he’ll give us an added dimension. It’ll be couple of weeks before he’s match fit but it’ll be great to have him for this run-in now.

“We have been short of wide players and he is a player with something to prove. We’re looking forward to having him here.”

I’m tending to agree with you but it’s hard without any details.
Probably legally wrong but just wish the club could disclose the details and then everybody at are club would be pulling in the same direction on this matter.

So what did he acutally do to get bombed off. Not rumours or dave up the road told me as his matr knew somebody who went to the same gym bollocks. I'm yet to see anything factual and 100% what happened unless I've missed something here it's all guess work as I can't seem to see anything out in the open of what he done to get sacked.

Untill then it's just guessing.
