Obviously I am hopeful we’ll make additions.

But also I am looking forward to the window shutting so we can get on with the season.

Famara Diédhou now been mentioned as the Ilic deal stalls. Lots of goals for Bristol City a few years back and there's the Turkey link with his current club being Alanyaspor.

I read this morning their bid was rejected, don’t know if true but the news of Lille being interested in him seems to have cooled.

Yesterday it was reported Ligue 1 side Lille were ready to gazump the Bluebirds and land the striker ahead of Bulut.

Reports in the morning suggested Cardiff were on the verge of landing him, but TV2 later reported that the French club could outmuscle Cardiff. They claimed Lille entered the race to sign Ilic and tabled an offer, which reportedly includes quicker payment for the player and more guarantees compared to the Bluebirds, which could see them lead the race ahead of Cardiff.

Now, in another twist, TV2 state (via SportWitness) that the Norwegian club have rejected Lille’s offer of around €3.75million in fixed fee plus bonuses.

Lille are not reportedly offering to include a sell-on fee, which the Scandinavians are unhappy about, putting the ball back in Cardiff's court. The Bluebirds "lead the way in the battle to buy" the Serbian, the report adds.

TV2 journalist Arilas Ould-Saada said on X: "Vålerenga have rejected Lille's offer (€3,75M + €750.000 in bonuses) as the French club doesn't want to include a sell-on clause in the deal. If the amounts are true and we are happy to spend this much on players then it opens up the thought train of perhaps the players we've missed out on (e.g. Baka, Bhadi, Ucan, Nayir etc) didnt sign due to other reasons and not because we werent willing to spend?

I feel we are probably setting our sights a tad too high. I understand that this is how you improve the team, but targets do seem to be targeted by teams in top leagues that may offer the possibility of European Football.

Are we relying too much on Bulut attracting players he has worked with or providing a better shop window for the Premier League?
