It wasnt a pop at you mate, Im merely making the point that even with the Fiddler gone we cant trust those that run our club.

Has anyone else booked for the Tour,
Tue Jun 29, 2010 2:52 pm
The club are saying that the tour has been called off because of logistical problems. This is nonsense, DJ had nice time out there being wined and dined but its his decision that this has been called off at the last minute.
We are the laughing stock out there, with the national body changing league fixtures to accommodate our tour to be insulted like this. We have no chance of attracting Malaysian companies to come on board now unless of course one is owned by VT.
We can forget about the likes of petronas and malaysian airlines systems to come on board now.
I have now no trust in the commercial competence of the CEO or DJ. Shame on the pair of you.

Don't you think TG as Chairman had some say then
The fact is you don't do you.
Just another stick to batter Our CEO and manager with because you don't like them

NO I have spoken to Kuala Lumpur contact and WE are the laughing stock who the hell have you spoken to??

You are not alone mate however the club are only admitting to 2 booked.
Its easy for smart arses like elwood to accuse us of having a vendetta with CEO and manager as he has probably never been further than the liberty never mind the far east!
Gethin Jenkins will not take a call and he has asked to be protected from phone calls.

Very true Jenkins refuses direct call nowadays, he is rem Our Chief Executive

The one thing positive about the situation is that our CEO and manager believe that we should set our requirements and standards higher than menial sides like Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Logistical reasons my arse !!!

Martyn, Do you really believe that, its a financial decision in my opinion.
I'm glad you state it's your opinion Annis.
There's no proof either way.
Malaysia = pointless destination anyway at this stage in proceedings.
Dave Jones probably realises the distances and culture changes and weather conditions (humidity) involve and weakness of opponent won't help the players in any way.
I'm inclined to take the club's viewpoint on this although again the way in which it's been done doesn't fill me with confidence.

I didn't realise commercial confidence was a part of Dave Jones' remit at the club?
To be honest, it's his job to look after the best interests of the players who, at the end of it all, are the ones who will tell whether this club is truly successful or not.
The fixtures have probably been moved more for Real Madrid than us.
Do we know for a fact that we're rejecting the exact same facilities that Real and ManUre are using? And if it's for financial reasons then I'm in no way surprised that we can't afford the same facilities as those two.

Dave Sheffield,
If the strength of the opposition is the problem then why is DJ playing the friendlies that he has arranged already, none of them world beaters.
Temperature / Humidity, can be checked by a simple google or speak to a Malaysian (TG and VT).
The point is that the club told the Malaysian F.A. they were going and they changed their domestic programme to accommodate us.
If the opposition is not of a high enough standard for the club why did we agree and tell them that we were going.
Man Utd and Real Madrid thought it was a worthwhile exercise or perhaps they saw a commercial opportunity, but of course we dont need the money.
This has been a complete fiasco from start to finish and has done our reputation out there no good.

Sadly that last bit may yet prove to be a telling point, and it's where my one lingering doubt on the situation lies - it's been said often enough on this board that the Malaysians are very honourable people and I don't imagine they're taking kindly to any of this.
But I ask again, were the fixtures ever set in stone? I've asked that on every messageboard and had no response as such.

I confirmed the dates by phone with the club weeks ago before i booked after i saw details of the tour ,and I checked with with Malaysia too and can confirm that their league fixtures were changed to accommodate OUR fixtures alone.

Fair enough.
Then something must be done. The club must be held to account for this.

So sorry mate this is terrible and the club are saying there is only two.
It looks like i am lucky as i booked through a mate in the airline industry and should get most of my money back, still working on the hotel.
Gethin Jenkins will not take a call as the man is gutless. He obviously does not give a damn for any financial loss incurred by supporters. This comes close after the golden ticket scam so I would hope that club would have some empathy but it seems our CEO does not appreciate us.

It's probably a bit of both, not really the best preparation for the players and over the top with the costs involved.

I do have sympathy for you, and if you have a loss the club should speak to you.
But we've heard over the last 2 days that the club have major money problems, so I'm not suprised that Jenkins doesn't want to speak to individuals.
Surely there is someone else in the club you could speak to ?
Jones is the one that went over, yet no-one has tried ringing him.
I have to say there does seem to be a few on here who have already made their minds up, and Jenkins will get blamed for everything.
Personally I'd prefer he spent his time getting the clubs shoddy marketing and admin in shape, and cutting out the waste and inefficiency. Something which (from a conversation on the weekend with a rugby mate) I've heard he is good at.
I doubt anyone at ANY other club would expect the Cheif Executive to deal with an issue like this.
Tue Jun 29, 2010 6:14 pm
Tim, Jenkins is the Chief Executive he has the final Decisions of the day to day running of our club also he was involved in the cancelling of the Malaysian Tour, so yes he should speak/answer questions etc.

Sorry Annis.
I don't agree.
I'd rather him spend his time dealing with the shit-load of problems Ridsdale has left him than taking calls from fans - thats for customer relations. The club has a stack of admin staff who can deal with this just as well.
If anyone has shelled out for costs associated with just going to the football game then they should get their receipts together copy them and send a letter to the club asking for compensation. Thats the best and most proffessional way to deal with it IMHO.
I'd also be amazed if more than a couple of dozen people have been effected and don't see why the club can't make this up to them - e.g. fly out with the team to wherever they will now be playing.
Tue Jun 29, 2010 6:51 pm
Thanks Lawnmower for your empathy, however i must say we don't agree.
What level within the club should i speak to discuss compensation,?
who will make the decision?
The decision to cancel this trip i have found out now was made weeks ago as we were actively seeking Portuguese matches.
I, from what I have seen and heard from him am not convinced that jenkins is the right man, but we must give him a chance.
You mention that he must sort out our shoddy marketing. Can you imagine what this has done to our credibility in Malaysia, I have spoken to an airline contact out there and he says the local press have been contacted by hoteliers who have been asked by disappointed fans for refunds from them.
His new marketing theme is I'll be there. How apt, i could be there but the team wont, even though they got the Malaysian FA to alter their league programme. How is he going to market the club to companies and supporters out there now. I think TG and VT will not be amused by the bad press out there.
The club seems unable to communicate and this is another prime example and as far as cutting out waste, yes i agree. He could have started by not wasting the time of the Malaysian FA, fans and press.
I do expect to be able to communicate with the CEO when he was part of the team that made the decision to cancel this tour. He is the man at the helm and it is he that will be part of the team that will discuss any compensation. I have been lucky that I had booked mine through an airline contact and will be getting most of my flight money back but have had no luck with my hotel. Hope the club wont have to pay for cancelling their flights to Kuala Lumpur otherwise that would be another waste for the CEO to look into.
The club at the moment is shooting itself in the foot and seems either incapable or unwilling to communicate, and who is responsible??

Cheers for your measured response.
I can imagine you are pissed off, but in fairness they made a statement and quickly about it.
There may well be more detail which comes out in time.
However I still beleive my approach would be best, and I HONESTLY don't think the CEO would be the man dealing with it at other clubs.
PR would have got involved in a text argument over it and ended up costing us hundreds of pounds for his time, which i'm sure he would have billed the club for. Sam would have made a big gesture - or told you to f**k OFF, depending on what mood he was in !
Given the way things have gone with chairmen in the past getting too involved with fans I'm glad he's not getting personally involved.
As I mentioned there should only be a few people involved here and I'm sure the club won't want to shoot itself in the foot and turn down any genuine compensation claims - and even put a suggestion as to how they could make it up to you and the others.
AT the end of the day, thats my view and you are all free to disagree

Bluebirds set to take on Malaysian national team
May 29 2010 by Terry Phillips, South Wales Echo
Add a commentRecommend CARDIFF City will play the Malaysian national team during their pre-season tour to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, July 15.
New Bluebirds’ chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee confirmed the pre-season trip immediately after becoming club chairman during a shareholders meeting at Cardiff City Stadium.
The date for the match against Malaysia has already been pencilled in.
“Our first team will be playing in Malaysia some time in July,” says Dato Chan, who is known as ‘TG.’ “That will be formally announced when we have the necessary permission from the Football Associations of Wales and Malaysia.
“Cardiff City, of course, will now have additional fans in Malaysia.”
TG describes Malaysia as being: “North of Singapore – and south of Thailand.”
There were talks of the Bluebirds playing in Hong Kong or Singapore as well during their trip to the Far East, but it is now far more likely manager Dave Jones and his players will stay in Malaysia and play two or three matches.
Jones, currently on a family holiday in Dubai, will go to Malaysia in June to check out facilities, including hotels and pitches for matches and training.
The Bluebirds have been to America and Canada on a pre-season trip, while Jones’ favourite venue for warm weather preparation has been Portugal. Now, though, following the £6m investment from Malaysia, City are heading for the Far East.
One of their matches looks certain to be against the Malaysian national team, ranked 146 in the world.
Cardiff City are likely to face Malaysia at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, which is to the south of the city and has a capacity of more than 87,000.
The all-seater, multi-purpose stadium was built to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
Malaysian coach Krishnasamy Rajagobal is a former national team striker who won 20 caps between 1980 and 1983.
He was appointed national team coach in July 2009
dug this up out of the echo where as far as im concerned the new chairman of the club is announcing a malaysian tour.
perhaps gethin treats him with the same contempt as other directors and fans.

Thanks for your advice and perhaps by the morning I will know the full extent of my losses though I must admit I do feel for those people that booked on advance purchase fares, which will be non refundable.
I know what your saying about the effective utilisation of the CEO's time but I am getting frustrated by the continuous serious misjudgements made by the club. I dont know about the behind the scenes goings on in the Hamman era the only thing that I tend to glean is that the man had a passion, but seemed could have benefited from a tight set of financial reins lol.
The Ridsdale era has in my opinion caused tremendous harm to our reputation both within the club, and the business community, who will take years to trust us again, never mind investing in us.
The club cannot afford to make any more mistakes, and I hope that The CEO looks at every member of staff as there are in my opinion too many there that benefited both by salary and promotion from the previous chairman.
Until then he must have performance checks as we are so poor on most fronts, and if he cant improve these things then he must be made to answer - even to the fans!!

I have today decided to contact our friend in malaysian with some questions
one being
Joshua can you tell me how our cancellation of the July tour has been accepted over there ?, it is being reported here that it was due to logistics most fans here believe it is down to finance
have we lost face ?
in your opinion could this affect potential investment in Cardiff city
there were a few other questions i asked about, like the rumors about late payment, no more cash injection, the truth behind gethin jenkins being the only one interviewed for the position of CO
i have just recieved a reply
thank you andrew I will investigate further. I hope I can contact TG on this.
