He's also 29 and, in contrast to fellow Bluebirds transfer target Kasey McAteer, doesn't necessarily represent strong potential resale value.

Nonetheless, they're minor slights in comparison to the impact that El Ghazi could quite clearly have in the Championship.

Having made more than 100 goal involvements in just over 300 career appearances, the Dutchman possesses experience, pedigree and proven class that simply shouldn't be in the second-tier- and Cardiff can consider themselves rather fortunate for being able to broker such an ambitious deal.
