We can lose six games

Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:26 pm

...and still go up.

I have analyzed our remaining fixtures and that of the clubs around us, and we can lose six games out of our remaining schedule and still be in the top two, mathematically speaking.

We are ten points ahead, so that's three games then when you account for the teams below us playing each other and the fact that they will not all win out, that's what it comes to.

Six losses... There are definitely six losable games there but We are well over half way in and we've only lost six in the league already.

To sum up, it would have to be a collapse.

Can't see us loosing 6 more games this season, I can however see us drawing a lot more games than the first half of the season, think we may now go into our shell a lot more in games, due to the gap we have at the top of the league.

Keep playing like we have done for a few weeks and we will lose more than 6games thats for sure :(

A good point and there are a lot of permutations when you get into draws too.

prefer to think that Leicester, borough ect ect have to match our results plus get xtra ten points, considering leics play borough fri, depending on that result, Saturday is a great opportunity to put one if not both of them even further back! :P

We've got 19 games... Does anyone really belive we will lose a third of them?

I know we've collapsed before but our squad this season is probably as god as it's ever been.

ok use my silly logic again! lost 4points so far at home, say lose another 7 (conservative est) that's 20 points gainded would mean need 15 points away in 10 games that's what 87 points?? Leicester, borough, at this time would need 40 points to catch us, out of 57! shows how hard it is for them to catch us!

only going by situation after half way! cannot see collapse as mentioned by some on here as nothing up to now to indicate otherwise. :ayatollah:

oops forgotten points we are on anyway still same scenario however many games left!

Unless we start playing better we will drop more than 7 points at home and won't get much on the road! But your maths has let you down as we have 57 points now so if we get another 20 at home then we would need only 12 away to get 89 points that should be enough. We need a striker though

Marshall

Kev
Connolly
Hudson
Taylor

Noone
Whittingham
Gunnarsson
Smith

Helguson
Bellamy.. use this line up and we will see the proper City we seen when we were smashing the likes of Blackpool and Burnley.

I just can't see us losing a third of our remaining games.

It would be one hell of a collapse even by our admitttedly infamous standards. 1948 and the negative crew think it'll happen, but I don't.

I don't either despite recent form, which is very good in way of results! what more can you ask for? nothing thas gone on before suggests otherwise, in fact points opposite way, lose we win as only 4draws is it all season? the end is nigh!!!

Mate I'm getting obsessed with how many points we may need and wasn't trying to prove you wrong or anything. I'm such a pessimist with City I can only see it going wrong so love your optimism with only dropping 7 points at home. The next 6 games will be vital now. 4 wins and I believe we will go on and see it through. 2 or less wins and I think we will drop to the play offs.

We need a striker, solid centre mid and maybe an attacking full back but I've got a horrible feeling nobody is coming in. Many teams have done their business already. Why are we 2 weeks in and nothing? Jan2012 all over again? Ok moan over :ayatollah:

its ok no offence mate, but you must have confidence! what I don't get with others is they going on our performances to form opinion on what will happen? yet results say different so why not use that as measure of what will happen? that's what I am doing! at end of day its a results buisness and that is great so far, and don't think it will get so bad as to cost us promotion!

we can lose 10 games :?

Re: We can lose six games

Did some maths myself.

19 games left. I predicted:

Seven wins.
Eight draws.
Four defeats.

That would leave us with 86 points and promotion.

Good analysis.

That would be close, but I agree that it would see us up.

Although maybe not in top spot.

Re: We can lose six games

Now it would be six losses out of 18 so we would have to lose exactly 33% of our remaining matches.

No team this far ahead at this stage of the season has not ended up in the premier league.

:ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Oh, and it looks like a tough race for second is developing.

So having won 10 of the last 13 games makes you think we may lose more than 6 of the remaining 18 - very logical

Fusilier, you are right, every game that goes by the prospect of us losing that many becomes less and less likely.
