' Can the Jacks hold on to him? '

Laudrup was loved by Mallorca's fans and did a great job there as well.

Be interesting if they won the Carling Cup this season, if a bigger club came in for him?

Real Madrid fans keen on Swansea City boss Laudrup to replace Mourinho

By Chris WathanJan 14 2013

REAL MADRID fans have backed Swansea City’s Michael Laudrup as a genuine contender to replace Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.

‘The Special One’ Mourinho looks increasingly likely to leave the Spanish giants this summer after falling out of favour with supporters and officials, criticism rocketing following Saturday’s goalless draw with bottom side Osasuna.

And La Liga legend Laudrup has emerged as a shock leading choice to become Real’s new boss in a survey on who Madrid’s supporters want to see succeed Mourinho.

Laudrup – who won the Spanish league with Real in 1995 after arriving from a title-laden spell with rivals Barcelona – has steered Swansea to ninth in the Premier League and within a whisker of Wembley in the League Cup.

Influential Spanish sports paper Marca has revealed Laudrup is in the top three of supporters’ choices to replace Mourinho.

Interim Chelsea boss – and ex-Bernabeu youth chief – Rafa Benitez came out on top in the poll, with Germany coach Joachim Low second.

Laudrup is a close third, ahead of the likes of Dortmund’s acclaimed Jurgen Klopp and Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger.

Laudrup laughed off the links following the point at Goodison, claiming: “When somebody talks about you there is always some satisfaction, but you have to remember I played there and I still have a lot of friends there.”

Even if he did move you know as well as me Hugh Jenkins will find another gem of a Manager. In my view he has to be the best Chairman out there

Swansea's infrastructure is set up to deal with the loss of a manager (4 in 5 years and still progressing) so it wouldn't massively destabilise them. Money they'd get would be ample for someone at a similar or same standard. Especially with European football on the cards.

he's using the club as a stepping stone, so i reckon the first time a big club with stability approaches them he'll be banging on the door to go, jenkins will want big bucks for him though :ayatollah:

Our manager linked with the biggest name in world football, the Spanish manager watching our players with the view to a few of them being called up to play for the World and European Champions not to mention our cup and league exploits which has the pundits drooling at the very mention of our name.

What a time to be a Jack.

Money talks - If a big club came in for him, he would be off, and Huw Jenkins would ask for loads in compensation :o

Laudrup laughed off the links following the point at Goodison, claiming: “When somebody talks about you there is always some satisfaction, but you have to remember I played there and I still have a lot of friends there.”

Full quotation
And his achievements have been noted by Real's fanbase, who voted him in third place as possible successor to Jose Mourinho, after Rafa Benitez and Joachim Low.

Laudrup, having had managerial spells in La Liga with Getafe and Real Mallorca, said: "I am happy now. When somebody talks well about you it is nice, but remember I played there and have a lot of friends there."

Not only has he guided the Welsh outfit to a string of impressive results at, the manner in which Laudrup has built a strong team, bringing in the likes of Michu, Chico Flores, Jonathan De Guzman and Pablo Hernandez, has caught the eye of the footballing world.

Michu has scored 13 times in the top flight, while De Guzman has three goals and four assists.

Laudrup mentioned the freedom in the transfer market as a key factor as to why he enjoys coaching in England, and the evidence of his success can be seen in the way both Michu and De Guzman have fared under his guidance.

"It is different over here because the managers here have a lot more influence on who is coming and going," he said.

"I prefer that because it is my responsibility because if things are not going well I am the one being sacked.

"That is why the manager should have some influence on who is coming and who is going instead of just being the trainer of the team and another person sitting behind a desk can buy and sell players."

In my opinion and I'm not saying this as an anti jack post, but it's all about money and power or status.

Swansea will never be seen as one of the top six clubs and any player coach manager etc, will always aspire to test themselves at the very top and also get as much money as possible for the period they are involved, they get shown no loyalty by clubs and return none accordingly.

Without the right financial backing, we will find ourselves in the same position, my God if it can happen to Arsenal with RVP to name but one, it can happen anywhere.

If you were a player and you could treble you wages and play at one of the most famous clubs in the world, how much loyalty would you show to your home town club or any other for that matter.

Not sure what he has done to suggest he should get the Madrid job jeez. I like Laudrup, he comes across well in interviews but there is no guarantee they will finish higher than under Rodgers last year. Michu has been bargain of the season but I doubt real madrid fans will want a bargain hunter in charge.

Wayne Rooney being a prime example of that.

With all credit to the Jacks they have showed that players on a fraction of the big can be better. A bit like someone coming to your place of work doing the same job on half the wages. Times are proving that some of these high profile players are not worth the money they are on.

Your missing the point Laudrup is a legend in madrid, regardless of what he has done or not done as a manager. If he leaves then so be it, we will bring in another manager and life goes on. :)

I don't for the life of me think Real would want him after half a decent season in the PL.And since when did the owners of Madrid pay attention to it's fans or managers for that? Someone like Chelsea at the end of the season might be a threat or Liverpool should be get rid of Rodgers.

If that was to happen Chief would you be happy to have Rodgers back ? I always thought Rodgers was well up himself stating he would be prepared to leave you but only to a top 4 team. Now i would ask Swansealad but someones banned the poor lad. Now he is chasing Daya's record of most bans so who is going to let him back on ? :ayatollah: :D

It had crossed my mind.Personally i'd hope we'd look elsewhere as Rodgers has since been outed as a sweet talking lothario and quite limited with his tactics.Laudrup has been a revelation and seems to have a plan b and c.

Not sure why Paul was banned.Second thoughts he probably had a rant on here and someone pushed the button again  .He should be let back on here as love him or loathe him he's always good value.
