Welsh Rugby V Red Cardiff

Mon Jan 14, 2013 6:34 pm

It's my nephews 7th birthday and no idea what to get him so asked my sister.

She said a Welsh Red Rugby top despite us all hating rugby lol he needs a red top to wear because he is in the red group in school and when they go to Disney land it's a st David's day celebration thing so she wanted him to wear it.

I said I couldn't buy a rugby top for him.

She said what about a red Cardiff top but I don't think I can
He has loads of city stuff already in blue and with the real badge all bough by me but he hasn't really got into football like I hoped. He is more into super hero's and Lego.

I suggested a welsh football top but she said he will look like a loser and its hard to disagree.

Thought? What would you buy?

Alternatively any other birthday present suggestions. He had everything he bloody wanted for Xmas

If you don't buy him a city shirt how can you call yourself a true City fan?? If you honestly feel that strongly against buying a child a city shirt perhaps you shouldnt go to see the teameither.

You watch the team in red week in week out, why wouldn't you buy him the CIty top?

Re: Welsh Rugby V Red Cardiff

Yes I watch the team in red but doesn't mean I like the colour or want to support the red kit change.

My nephew has plenty of Cardiff stuff in blue and original badge I him for Xmas.
He hasn't asked for a red top.

Alternatively I can understand a young child wanting a red top, he know we are blue and the bluebird but he wouldn't understand why changing colour would be a bad thing.

Go for the Welsh rugby top, I wore one when I was his age and I've grown to hate the sport.
I'd never buy my son a red city shirt though.

Buy him the red top. As long as he is happy all that matters. He is the next generation of fan hopefully and if he likes the red top who are us older lot to say anything? I remember when I was young, watching footy was 10 times better than it is now, the buzz is not as strong. Buy him the red one. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

A retro wales top with the green and yellow stripes. But the latest welsh top is good and he won't look a loser only a rugby can would say that. Put his name on the back or Speed .
Or if push comes to shove the old City red away kit with our natural bluebird badge.

I don't mind him having a red top if that's what he wants but he hasn't said he does.
I certainly can't deal with him having a rugby top. It would just feel weird buying one :(

Cardiff top easily.
I couldn't wear a rugby top, just couldn't. Only thing I'd hate more than wearing a rugby top is a Swansea Liverpool or Leeds top.

What top are you going to get him then Chief ? A Welsh Football top ? And his name and 7 on it. And don't listen to Polo does not matter his age if Daddy says no to the re branded one then its no :D
Besides keep getting our kids the re branded tops that is what they will always associate us with. They need to be taught our history and the importance of the Bluebird and its what we supported :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

He aint mine he is my nephew :ayatollah: I aint into that swansea thing of inbreeding

I got him the red top  it felt dirty and I told the woman serving me  He has had the blue top for the past 6 years and has a load of polo shirts and Tshirts with what I class as the real badge on (not Sams and not VT's).

At the end of the day though I have no problem with people wearing the red top and just because I don't want to wear one it doesnt mean I should stop him wearing one.

My dad convinced me when he said what would you rather he got more interested in Rugby or supported Cardiff in Red or whatever colour. When he is older he can make his own decisions so I'll just make him well aware of the blue, my bedroom is like a shrine to it so

You have got him Polo's shirts ? Won't they be a bit baggy on him as our Polo is in his thirties with a beer belly !!
