hope there is some backlash here, not against the FA, isnt it the refs own body that have stood him down?

shocking, and so out of touch.

It was the snide and sarcastic way he said it that annoyed me. I'm guessing he says it at every game where other fans are charged a small fortune such as Saints fans paying £60 for Chelsea away, or QPR charging Utd fans the same price.

spot on, just another attention-seeking official who should mind his own business. Who the f##k does he think he is?

Perhaps he's a football fan, let's be honest no one should have to say anything, some of these players are as out of touch with the fans as the football authorities are. I agree with what he said though, perhaps arsenal pushed the issue

Why? People have been paying a small fortune for football for a number of years now and just because Man City fans moaned about paying £62 for an Arsenal game it's suddenly turned into this big issue. I'm guessing for the next game he assists he'll say exactly the same thing? And he said the same for Arsenal supporters who pay thousands for season tickets? Or would he have said it last year when teams were paying exactly the same price? No, just because the media have jumped on the bandwagon he feels it's ok to make such a comment and paint Arsenal as the bad guys. Ticket pricing is an issue but he has clearly jumped on the bandwagon with his massive stick and disdainful remarks.

Maybe he hs said it at other games but the cameras haven't picked it up.

Grow a pair. Im happy its in the media maybe at least the issue has been made aware of. Man City fans actually done something about it. Better than what we do with Leeds everywhere.

He's a nobody whose opinion went straight over the heads of top professionals who were on their way over to the fans anyway once they'd got the handshakes out of the way. He got his name in the papers though, well done....deservedly dropped for showing biased views against one of the clubs in a match in which he was officiating.

How has he shown bias views?

There was nothing wrong with he said. You never know he might of not realised the camera was near by

just because the away fans paid £62 doesnt exempt him, or the other officials, from being held to account by the players and talk at the end of the match. in every premiership game there are people paying much more than £62.

disagree with him being sanctioned though.

In telling the players that they should go and thank their fans for paying 62 quid, he showed he had strong feelings against Arsenal's price structure for Man City's fans....either that or he was playing up for the camera that was right in his face!

Why shouldnt he? He made a comment so that the Man City fans will go over and applaud their fans. He made no strong comments against it just suggested they go over to the fans. There is no bias is there it was the end of the match

Ref assistant dropped

Tue Jan 15, 2013 1:26 pm

Because he said for the Man City players to go clap the fans because they paid £62 a ticket.

(Can someone post the link from bbc?)

Was the assistant being unprofessional? I don't think so.

I think he was just being genuine, everything that's lacking from some refs these days.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't been sacked, just dropped from his next game to avoid the 'media pressure' or whatever. Still odd though.

I wonder if he still gets paid. Shocking decision.

I wouldn't think so. not for the next game anyway. Whether he is reinstated afterwards is another matter.

It does seem very odd, what difference would a one-match 'break' have? c :?

I'm not sure what sort of media pressure tbh.

Other than think what a good guy when originally seeing the video it hadn't entered my head until reading that.
