Something needs to be changed

Finally it's coming to light that we're not performing as we should be. Peterborough, Millwall, Ipswich, and a few away games to name we have come up against weak opposition and get bullied into giving the ball away every few seconds. No flow whilst attacking, and very occasional if at all. I'm very concerned. I don't know what it's going to take to change it.. But I haven't seen a solid performace in a good while. Will a new signing, change of formation, or rotation of the squad do it? We can't afford to let our top of the league status blind us into thinking we should wait and plod along and hope our form will come back around soon. Because at the moment the way we've been playing of late wont gain us promotion. We've got tough games coming up, and dare I say it, I think we are going to start dropping points quite regularly unless we a see a change. The way our midfield is run, in my views are causing the problem.

What you mean is you haven't seen any good performances in a while. And I'd agree. I don't know what we can do to change it but something has to be done.

agree with what you say but we cant win every game in style! the teams that eventually go up have to win the scrappy games! where we drew to many last season after being 1-0 up, we are now seeing then through and getting the extra 2 points!

I agree there. We have been solid, we don't leak goals! But we're just missing something.

I'm not sure that something has to be done. Basically I think it is the style of football that Malky is leaning towards; a pragmatic style that gets the job done.

For example; When we defend a corner all of our players are in our own penalty box. Why? because by percentages the more you have in there the more bodies you have to defend the cross. But then obviously it would limit our attacking option straight from a defensive corner, it doesn't matter! What matters is we do the defensive work in that situation and build to an attack when we are able.

Does flair, open style attacking play that is pleasing on the eye win football matches? No! Its good to look at and keeps us entertained but it doesn't necessarily win you games. What Malky is adopting is a style that simply gets the job done in the most efficient method possible. Performances don't need to be great if you are doing the basics right of keeping out the opposition and scoring when you are able. Its not the best to watch but its the best for celebrating afterwards!!!

I think that's my point: we are doing it well its just not always pleasing on the eye. At the end of the day in the majority of games its getting the results hence our point tally
