IF he wanted to! It doesn't look like he's too bothered. If he can't keep fit whilst he's a professional footballer at the Premier League champions, there's not much hope for him.

Sad, bet he will blow a load of money now and regret this massively in a few years when he is on the scrap heap.

Few Rocky films and he'll be back on his feet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SUzcDUERLo

Re: Michael Johnson

you have to wonder how someone in his position, with the world at his feet can go this way!

Re: Michael Johnson

How the hell did Citeh let him get in that shape?

Disgrace of a club, just like Chelsea. Got all that money and forgot all about their homegrown kids.

At least VT is pumping money into the grass roots of the club.

After an abdominal injury and a double hernia operation I doubt he could ever train again without being in pain. Obviously he hasn't helped himself but those injuries would make many people pack on the weight.

Think of all the young people in the world who would have loved to be in his position just a few years ago. I would have done anything for a shot at being a successful professional footballer. Unfortunately 16 is a bit too late

Re: Michael Johnson

He's only 24 he hasn't helped himself but he's so out of shape now that he needs to stick to a diet which he is clearly not cabable of doing.

young kids in football need to learn you cannot be a superstar and eat chinese buffet and tgi fridays 6 nights a week
and have boozy nights out, staying fit is easier but as I am learning right now
one bad injury can seriously mess you up

Had a lot of potential.

He is a victim of modern football to some degree as well. Man City's policy of 'lets buy Robinho and every other foreign superstar on the planet' attitude would not have helped his progress during his injury at all. They probably neglected him and just left him to waste away and focused on the new acquisitions that come in.

People can slate Arsenal all they like but they have nurtured Ramsey brilliantly back in after his injury and have been patient with him. Some of the fans haven't but Wenger has always shown faith in his ability which is admirable and as a manager that is what you want.

Obviously Johnson has not helped himself but I doubt the full story is out and the fact he was contracted to the club all this time probably is the reason why he hasn't spoke out about his treatment.

As for going out drinking etc. what a load of bull. I've seen our players out on the town and still play brilliantly. Its about application and dedication and maybe Man City destroyed all his the moment they decided to forget their academy and start splashing £25m+ on signings.

Look at Chelsea, they have had players like McEachran on their books who is a decent youngster but just forgotten about. They get shipped out on loan and never really given a chance. Liverpool with Ince the same and now, after he has performed well for Blackpool they have realised the error of their ways.

Now his contract is up with Man City I expect to hear his side of the story in the next year or so. More to this than whats being said currently.

McEachran isn't good enough. That's why he's not given a chance. He was on loan at Swansea last year and was poor, he's not starring in the Championship either.

It's also harsh to say Man City are at fault. He was getting games until his injury, it's the fact that his injury period was so long. He then went on loan to Leicester and failed to impress.

Where did I solely blame Man City Chuckles? FFS. I said I think they have some blame in the situation as it turns out and I still stand by that. Homegrown players as Polo has rightly pointed out above are being forgotten about by many clubs and are just being left to rot. Of course self motivation and dedication is a factor, no one disputed that fact but there are also, in my opinion, other factors to be considered. I did not solely blame Man City.

You apportioned some of the blame on them and I feel that's harsh, as I stated in my opinion.

FFS? calm down.
