Spot on, I have a lot of American friends, they love the British and would rather be living over here. As much as I love American Football (it's nothing like rugby, less rules on tackling where "hit's" are aloud), they do have a good football fanbase over there, lots of them follow premier league football and like said above, it is always on their main news channels and regular sports channels.

I spent 2 months at my brothers in Milwaukee last year. They have more televised games on a weekly basis than we do. Guaranteed 3 games on every Saturday including a 3 o'clock KO. The coverage is pretty good with a mix of American presenters/Ex players and Ex Premier League players like Warren Barton and Shaka Hislop.

My brother coaches in Milwaukee also, during the season he's out every night taking coaching sessions and games on the weekend. The sport is growing there and he see's it first hand from the numbers that increase from each season.

The USA mens team have been in the top 10 of the FIFA rankings over the past decade... Not bad for a country that doesn't play much "Soccer".

Unfortunately GL the respect is not returning from the motherland.

I've lived in the USA and have found the Yanks/southerners to be the most friendly people I've ever met and I have travelled a bit. I get quite embarrassed at the return of friendliness we give back to our cousins bt sadly that is the way it is.

The thought of looking at Uncle Sam for inspiration is something us Brits shrug off which as far as I am concerned is short sightedness on our part. Ever seen the film Stalag 17 or something, where 3 Yanks share a prison of war camp with a load of Brits. They decide to make some moonshine to celebrate 4th July and share their brew with the Brits annoucing "Down with the Brits". Too damn right I say.

That was excatly the point I was making and that is why PL teams are now playing friendlies in the US because they know what the fanbase is like over here.

We should change our badge to an eagle and have half time cheerleaders . Agree though , huge market and football is growing over there . Went to watch the 49ers last year . The game is very drawn out and mainly watched by knobheads.

I am an American, and have never been to Wales or England, but starting watching Premier League games a few months ago and my son and I decided to become soccer (football) fans. After doing research we decided to root for Cardiff City because our family heritage traces back to Wales. Every Premier League game is shown here in the States, although not all are shown live. They even had the Cardiff City vs Macclesfield Town game on. Soccer is not huge here, but there are some fans who follow. My son, who is 8, has been playing for 5 years now so I have grown to appreciate it and enjoy it. I would much rather watch and cheer for a Premier League team than a MLS team. I think there could be a big market here in the US if someone would actually really try and invest the time and money. We love our sports here.
