Heard about this series a couple of years ago, but never watched it.

Watched the first episode and I am well and truly hooked.

The Wire is the best series ever in my opinion. Some will disagree, The Sopranos seems to be its main rival but for me The Wire is the best.

Watched a few of the films from there (the ones you linked) and had a butchers at some of the TV stuff.
Found the wire and now over halfway through the whole series in five days.
Working from home helps though.

watching dexter and breaking bad at the mo, patiently waiting for the next game of thrones, was watching the new V but didn't know they pulled the plug on it

Series 3 of the wire is the best tv series I've ever seen. Season 2 was hard work at first as was season 4 but both gripped me about 3 episodes in.
