are watford the lance armstong of the championship?

Sun Jan 20, 2013 9:05 pm

In other words a bunch of cheats.

Im not anti italian, i enjoy a good pizza the same as the next man.

Watford got italian owners and all them dodgy italian loan players, and when you cross an itie with football it normaly ends up with match fixing, court cases, bunga bunga parties or bent referees.

There was a thread earlier about em up being up to no good. I dont trust em.

As alex fergurson once said " if an italian tells me its pasta, i check under the sauce".

The way they are abusing the loan system is a disgrace and the signing of Forsterier (excuse spelling) on a free from Granada is a con.

Hopefully they will get punished over the Danny Graham sale and lose 10-15 points and slip down table.

We abused the loan system that one year, if they don't break any rules can't see a problem

We used loan system legally and kept 5 in our matchday squad. Watford have completely bent the rules and have more than 5 loanees in matchday squad but get away with it as foreign loans dont count apparantly.

In my opinion the loan system should be overhauled. 1 longterm loan per team and upto 5 other short term loans to cover injuries.

Last week Swansea signed someone on an 18 month loan-not a dig at them but this is ridiculous.

I don't think it's the same, we loaned from a number of clubs.

The whole Watford thing don't sit well with me at all.

Who is to say they ain't loaning some of these players to reduce the wage bill at the other clubs they own.

It seems extremely dodgy whats going on but as it stands they are not breaking any football league rules
Zolas done a pretty good job of gelling his multi national squad,so deserves credit here

Same its all very dodgy. I know they aren't breaking any rules but it worries me what future Watford will have. Whats to stop the owners bouncing debt between the two clubs.

Lets get one thing straight they are not abusing the loan system, well they are not breaking any laws.

They are facing a charge over third party ownership of Danny Graham and before anyone asks this is not the same as the loan we had that is being repaid through player sales.

Watford are accused of selling Danny Graham to Swansea and striking a deal that got them a payment up front and then £500k instalments. However they sold on the instalments to another company thereby getting nearly all their money up front. This meant a third party owned part of Danny Graham until the instalments were paid.

What I do not understand is the loaning and sale of players between clubs that are owned by the same family. It makes them able to utilise players across the clubs they own thereby propping up a team that have a chance of promotion. :?:

A person wouldn't be allowed to own say Cardiff City and WHU.

So why one in Spain, one in Italy and one in England?

What's to stop them getting Watford to buy some crap players from Udinese for good money to balance the clubs books and then putting Watford into admin?

I don't think Watford have cheated really, I just find the situation odd and concerning.

Good luck to them I say.....remember all the flak we were getting over Bellamy getting his wages paid mostly by Man City,

Watford are Doing Well....that's why we're talking about them.

I agree with that, if they were 20th - nobody would give a shit.

I think that's pretty standard about football though.

Doesn't make it more right or wrong.

nout wrong with what we did.... its up to the loaning club whether they want a percentage contribution to a players wages or not... i bet u peterboro are not paying any wages at all to man utd for their loan player..

What exactly have they done wrong though? If they have broken loan regs, they would have been punished by now?

Regarding this 3rd party arrangement, who knows. It could help us though, they really are on fire.

The loans don't concern me.

I just fun it concerning the way one owner is moving players and money around clubs.

Isn't that the point though, if they were in a relegation battle they could have a pool of players on tap to get them out of it.

Yes, never thought of it like that.

Loan a player and recall them after a game kinda thing.. Think this loophole will probably be closed soon.

I'm surprised Swansea haven't offered that third party 5p in the pound yet.

Id be more concerned with them giving Watford Udinese's players to boost their promotion chances into the Prem and get their hands on Prem TV money. I think thats what they'll do. Rinse Udinese, get Watford in the Prem and then put everything into Watford and get their hands on the TV money.

Anybody remember that dispatches or panorama program about corruption in football relating to owning multiple clubs? A business or individual may only own one football club under competition laws I believe. However, there was a loophole that was exposed which involved a ring of people all owning different clubs in order to make transfers which would normally not have been considered realistic. If I remember rightly, Bryan Robson was involved with a group of fellas from the far east. In fact I believe Tan or TG was also involved in this ring.
