will Villa then go after Malky if he's sacked?... imo Malky will not go if he had any ambition but it's a possibility Villa will come knocking! who'd want to go to Villa atm anyway? no one

If he gets sacked, I can see Malky being approached.

More likely to go for Adkins!

Being defeated by a league 2 team over 2 legs in a cup semi is woeful and even the most optimistic villa fan couldnt really argue if lambert was sacked after this.
Id be surprised if malky left for villa tho villa are the 5th most decorated club in english football, former european cup winners... Massive club even if this season suggests otherwise

Not going to get sacked imo. Him and the chairman are setting out a long term foundation which he wants Lambert to carry out.. like playing a young squad week in week out.. way forward according their chairman.

I still think Lambert is a good manager, but that's the wrong tactic. 6 experienced players with 5 youngsters learning off them could work.

Thats what the chairman and Lambert want as the way forward for the club. Well I read an article about Lambert after the s**t results after Christmas.

Lambert in many ways has been a victim of his own success. Had Villa got knocked out in the 3rd round to Man City nobody would've complained, similarly if they'd got knocked out by Norwich. Yet they didn't, they beat two very good teams and made it to the semi-finals with what is a pretty average team (City would fancy their chances against the worst Aston Villa team in a fair few years). On paper they should've beaten Bradford, but didn't, I just think the Villa board should take into account who they beat along the way, not who beat them.

I feel sorry for Lambert in some ways. What I admire with Lambert is he went to Villa knowing he wouldn't be given the funds to sign top players. If Lambert took the easy option, he would have signed a load of experienced players for a few million each who would have been alright for a few seasons and kept Villa as a run of a mill mid table team. Instead, Lambert has taken the difficult option, he's gone to Villa and tried to sign his own future stars to try and actually do something for the club. I admire Lambert for at least attempting to turn Villa from a mediocre Premiership team into a very good Premiership team.
It doesn't seem Villa have the scouting network of Swansea or Newcastle to bring in the best unknown Spanish/French players for peanuts, so signing the best young kids from the British game seems the only thing Lambert can really attempt to transform the club in the future. It was Vlaar, an experienced defender and Villa's captain who lost his man for Bradford's goal. When your most experienced player and captain can't stay with his man for a basic corner to let his team of youngsters down, then what can you expect Lambert to do?
However, I definitely think right now, Lambert needs to bring in a few experienced players on loan to help his youngsters. These youngsters might be great Premiership players in the future, but without some experienced players to help them at the moment with what they're going through, this season might well finish a few of their careers.

they should go and get lee clark.
.last season mcliesh got rid of a lot of decent earners from villa.lambert has continued to buy players on less dollar and play the kids.it,s lerner,s plan so i doubt they,d sack him.

People complain they don't have much to spend now and he's got a squad of youngsters, the first point is not true and the second is because he's spent his money on not very good players.
Brett Holman - Free
Karim El Ahmadi - 2m
Matthew Lowton - 3m
Ron Vlaar - 3.2m
Joe Bennett - 2.5-4m
Ashley Westwood - 2m
Jordan Brewery - 500k-1m
Christian Benteke - 7m
So that's over £20m, nearly £25m, and they've only sold a couple of million (Collins) and released Heskey and Cuellar. So you can't complain about like of funds and having to play with a shit squad.

If Villa can't afford to play Bent in the PL due to contract clauses, I am sure they will not be able to pay Lambert off for the remaining 3-4 years of his contract. Maybe that's why he hasn't had the 9 10 jack.

Why don't Villa just sell Bent? They could get atleast £10mil for him.
