He will definitely stay, no one will buy an injured player.

Correct, but he has a contact till June 2010,I bet City offer him a lower wage than they did before lol.

I was hoping we would at least get some cash for him if he wanted to leave

but now hes injured , very little chance of that

seems like joe is going to have to buckle down and establish himself as a player once this operation is sorted , cant seem him playing at the higher level now, unless its with us

I agree Sludge, he will now have to work his back after the operation and get back to how he was playing a year ago.

maybe thats best all round

hes a good lad and a cardiff boy

but is he good enough for the premier league, even when he is fit and in form ?

perhaps the championship is where he settles

So will he be out for 3 months or 8 months? Heard different reports.

Villa also signed Downing when he was injured

Re: So Annis...

clubs will sign injured players depending on the injury

for example, bodde was wanted by wigan but they didnt commit, they played a waiting game as they knew he had far more than just achilles tendon soreness or a pulled hamstring

and they were right, as he has broken down again

Fair enough, but what if they have not played well for over 8 months as well.

He will definitely stay, no one will buy an injured player.

Stuart Downing was injured when Villa bought him

I think the case of Downing is different because he was proven at that level. I think Ledley's injury has ruled him out of Premiership transfers but teams in our division might be sniffing. If we gets a bid in from a team that looks destined for Premiership relegation or are on the verge of going up, he might be tempted to sign for them e.g. Portsmouth or Newcastle.

Sorry, Zabier, I disagree. I don't think Joe would sign for Pompey in a million years, the club's a shambles. I don't think he'd sign for a club in the relegation battle, either. I wouldn't. Newcastle though, probably.

You say that Nottage Blue but sense would have thought he'd have signed a contract over a year ago instead of staying on the money he's on. I think if a club, no matter who, offers him as much as he wants he will consider any move.

Re: So Annis...

I think Joe has his eye on bigger Premiership fish than Pompey though, Zabier, and that's why he's not signed. His options are running out fast though

Yeah, you could well be right. It's a shame. I wish either he'd left for £6m to Stoke or he committed to us. It's not been a good experience for anyone with this whole contract signing farce.

Re: So Annis...

We were talking about this whole Stoke thing in the pub after the Preston game. Thing is, it was too short notice at the time and, if we had sold him, the fans would have been in open revolt at us selling more of our players, seeing as we didn't have to sell at the time. His head was definitely turned though

Re: So Annis...

I think what has happened to joe is a shame for him and bad news for us

if he was having a blinding season and a contract had been sorted out ( its certainly not just joe ) then he would have been sold for a big wedge of cash...joe gets his wish to play at the highest level ...and we get good money

however hes been off form for some time now..although was back to his best at boro......and together with this injury it means that it will only likely to be championship clubs who would be interested I would have thought

I may be wrong but I cant see premiership clubs being interested in a player that has been in patchy form and has scored very few goals from the middle ...and is now carrying an injury

I would love to see joe get his wish to play at the highest level as he has been a great servant for us , but being totally selfish and hoping whats best for the club, any move must get us the maximum possible money...and thats now not going to happen

Yeah, good post Sludge I totally agree. Ledley has proved for Wales that he can perform at the highest level so maybe one day he will. 8 months out isn't the end of the world and if the operation improves his mobility he'll be better off for it.

I want him to come back and play like he use to and stay with City, having local players playing for us means a lot to me.
