PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

Sat Jan 26, 2013 11:17 pm

But surely there's even more why we shouldn't. So what if it's five or six pounds more than some games, what do you think is going to happen next year if we get promoted, bet you 'll find forty quid to go to Man U or Liverpool.
I have read so much crap on the boards tonight, the club should contribute, the players should contribute, Malky should contribute, they are rich we aren't, I just can't believe what I'm reading.

ASk not what the club can do for us, but what we can do for the club, the team need our support, we have never had a manager and team that have shown how much they appreciate us, and some are asking what can they do for us.

I think some people need to look up the words football supporter, and then compare it to employee. If we choose to support, then it's our choice, don't look for excuses not to.

This is Leeds, shitty horrible Leeds, we used to dream of playing clubs like this every few years or so with a lucky cup draw, are we now that "blase" that we wont go coz it's a fiver more than Leicester.

I just hope people realise how close we are to getting promoted, and the slightest edge may make the difference, please look into your hearts (and wallets  ) and try and get on board, "YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU,AND THEY NEED YOU UP IN LEEDS" :malky: :malky: :malky: :malky: :malky:

Well get used to it because times are tough and most people don't have a money tree out their back garden.

Re: PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

I'm 16 yet they don't even do a Student price or under 18..

It would cost me £56 to go to Leeds when the average I pay for away game would be £30-£40.

I would go if they had the U18 price.

It costs me £64 for Huddersfield and Wolves (bus+ticket)

I'd rather pay 9 quid extra for 2 away games.

I see what your trying to say but a lot of the fans who travel are young and have to pay the same price as Adults which is shocking.

Supporters mean nothing to players and the outcome of a game, a case in point being when 130 went up there, despite protests from many, I could be wrong but I think you and the rams were all for boycotting at that time? Anyway the point being, we still won with a pathetic away following. Everyone has a choice and the majority have had enough of Bates and Leeds so will choose not to go and instead spend their hard earned on trips to places that they feel a little more welcome. The irony is, that the next two always will be against clubs who hardly rolled out the red carpet for us in the past

Re: PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

Sun Jan 27, 2013 1:20 am

I wont be going.

This game is £12 above the average away price. That is 33% more than what you would pay normally at an away venue in the championship. Then lets throw in the below average treatment we get like a RV point plus the Leeds stewards.

It would be nice if the club told Leeds what to do with their prices specially as we charged Leeds the average price to attend our place. Then again why should the club make that effort as I must be a crap supporter not wanting to go and cheer my team on.

I should be there, just need to sort out travel.

If I can't do that, I'll go to Huddersfield instead.

Already got my ticket for Wolves :ayatollah:

Money is a good enough reason, i was going to go but i would rather spend 100quid on the kids tbh, yes its an excuse but a far better one than going to that place being treated like a dog in a cage while paying way over the odds. f**k leeds, People will wonder what or why the club dont pay for fans maybe once a season even if its a coach but when MM & the club plea for fans to show up it makes you wonder so maybe the club should give something to fans like other clubs across the country who go to away games every other week reward them, im not one of them but still thats how it should be eitherway when was the last time city done anything for fans bar meet a player on an opening day which is something all other clubs do weekly. :ayatollah:

And a few should look up the word austerity.

I don't think anyone seriously believed the club or players should pay for us, they wouldn't be that considerate. It's fine for Malky to call for our support but he could at least make mention of his understanding of the situation.

Gwyn, we have always picked our 5 or 6 aways when the fixture lists come out. Will be going to Sheffield and Huddersfield just not going to Leeds. Cant afford every away trip and Leeds with all the hassle wont be one of them :ayatollah: We go to support the team and have a good time, would rather to go Peterboro.

In a nutshell in fairness
Also add on the fact that some coaches were held at the Rv point purposely to miss the first 20 minutes of the game.
It's ok for Malky to harp on about support but in reality whilst most fans are still being messed around by yorkshires finest the team plane will be touching down at Cardiff

It's not the high price on its own at this particular game that's the issue, but that supporters always get treated like shit up there and are made jump through hoops for the privilege, like RV points, ticket exchange, early KO, until it changed a week ago. It all adds up to us being made to feel that we are not wanted up there. Leeds then have the audacity to charge a premium for that privilege! All clubs supporters are now starting to say enough is enough, that's why away followings in the Premiership are falling. Football supporters always moan about the fact they have no power to change things they are not happy with, as with most things it financially hurts there own club, well this is one issue where supporters can stand up for there rights by voting with their feet and not hurting their own club.

I personally would love not one supporter turn up there, unfortunately, through foolish blind loyalty, individuals refuse to see the bigger picture over their own self interest. Before anyone comes back with old argument that the team needs us behind them, it helps them etc, well back in the old days we probably took more away than any other teams in the 3rd & 4th divisions and it certainly didn't make any difference, as our away record was pretty much abysmal

Re: PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

After much sole searching yesterday I have decided to to go to Leeds.

Firstly I agree that £36 is an out right rip off & the thought of handing it over to Leeds/Bates feels dirty... but by the same token it'll be like it every week if we get to the prem & you can guarantee people wont be mentioning austerity if we were playing United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc... there will just be hundreds of threads on here moaning that they cant get tickets.

Secondly i agree that the OB up that part of the world treat us like shit... but this trip was a choice between Leeds or Huddersfield & I can assure you the policing isnt going to be any different a few short miles down the road. Besides havent we boycotted Leeds for the same reasons for something approaching 10yrs now & it hasnt made a blind bit of difference has it? :old:

At the end of the day the clincher was it looks like theres 1000nds going to Huddersfield & Wolves so we are going to need all the support we can get to stop it looking embarrassing... besides my Mrs really wanted to go as shes never been Elland Rd and we might not play them again :laughing6:

Re: PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

We have managed to get it changed to a three O'clock kick off, it isn't a bubble and people can make their choice of travel arrangements, yes it's expensive, yes the OB and stewards are knobs, but it ain't just at Leeds and we all go to admit that compared to how things were five years ago this is a picnic compared to how we have been treated previously in most places.

In the past the more restrictions and the worse the welcome was like a gauntlet to our fans and we would stand up to it in numbers, that is one of the things that made us special.

I really can understand how people don't fancy this one, I just hope some can see it in their heart to put it to one side and get up there and play their part.

And as for treatment, we been given far more shit at Huddersfield over the years than at Leeds and that is a fact. :old:

That's a derby game though, it's expected that there will be all sorts of restrictions for very obvious reasons. Dave Jones once said that they are just like any other games, yet I would take losing to Leeds 10 times if it meant beating you lot. Supporters will put up with a lot more shit than normal if it means any kind of bragging rights over their rivals. I haven't missed a derby game at yours in recent times and that's taking into consideration the three and half journey down to Cardiff and then the two hour trip over to your shit tip. I wouldn't miss those for the world, and unlike Leeds you always welcome us with open arms. :ayatollah:

Re: PLENTY OF REASONS TO MISS LEEDS

This thread shows everything that is wrong with modern football. The working class simply can't afford to go to every away game and have to budget wisely. I will not be going to Leeds and I certainly won't be paying £62 to go to the Emirates next season. The sport is becoming a joke, if we go up I will probably miss the majority of Premiership away games next season simply because I don't want to be ripped off and I have other priorities. But this doesn't matter as a rich glory hunter will take my place.
