les miserables

Anyone been to see it?

Not my thing, I've never seem the musical and never knew anything of the story before I went to see the film.

I will say its a bit long and Russell Crowe isn't a singer but what a film, even Crowe who can't sing is excellent IMO.

If you go and see it in the cinema be prepared to be surrounded by blubbering woman. People even clapped at the end of the film, that's a new one for me.

i got dragged to it by my girfriend. it wasnt my cup of tea really - anne hathaway really annoys me and i couldnt stop laughing every time the girls boyfriend sang cos he sounded like such a poncy posh boy.

liked the bits with sacha baron cohen and helena bonham carter though, they were funny

Saw the West End show about 4 years ago and it was superb, although I went to see the Phantom Of The Opera the night before and is my favourite!

I never thought I'd get into musicals, but I went to see We Will Rock You around 10 years ago and I was hooked!

I'm going to see the film tonight and I can't wait! :D

Would have loved to have seen one of the two shows from the O2 a couple of years ago, but I have got the DVD! :happy1:

I quite like some musicals. Really enjoyed The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera plus Blood Brothers is pretty dark. However, I've never really gotten on with Les Miserables which is a shame because the backdrop of the French Revolution is something that interests me but I don't like that many of the songs in Les Miserables so it makes it quite a hard watch for me.

I can appreciate that others would like it though but I think it's definitely more one for the women.

That's going to bring serious sex rewards. Good luck keeping your penis attached to your groin I think!

Don't need to tell me Craig. I'm still suffering night terrors after watching Magic Mike in the cinema!

R U calling me effeninate mate? :)

It's nothing more than a musical version of part of the French Revolution and it would appear to some, the same as if they did a musical version of Braveheart!

Can't see how you rated Blood Brothers as dark, as it's the funniest musical out here, although it's quite sad as well!

If you want to see an effeminate musical though, go and see Mamma Mia! :)

I agree, not into musicals but wife took me in 2205 to see les mis in London and thought it was amazing, it came to cardiff a few years ago and was excellent again. Seen Phantom in Vegas which was good but Les Mis was better!
