RUDY GESTEDE LAUNCHES HIS OWN ENERGY DRINK

Cardiff City striker Rudy Gestede has launched his own brand of energy drink – and roped in footballing pals Craig Bellamy and Bacary Sagna to help promote it.

The Frenchman stars in an advertising campaign for No Limit with clubmate Bellamy and Arsenal’s French full-back Bacary Sagna.


The budding entrepreneur has launched the drink – described as “a little bit like Red Bull but more sweet” – with his brother Charly.

It will sell here for “around £1”.

The striker said he was upbeat about his plans for the business, and says he wants his fizz to reach upmarket, sophisticated customers.

“It is already in Europe, in Belgium and France,” the dad-of-one said.

“It’s going very well.”


He started the business as something to fall back on when he retires from football.

The cans feature pink lettering and a pink logo bearing a combination of the gender symbols.

“On the logo it is like male and female,” the 24-year-old, from Essey-lès-Nancy, said.

“It’s not just about man or woman it is about man and woman. Everyone can try it.

“It is not just about sport it is about everything.”

In the adverts Gestede, Bellamy and Sagna are all pictured wearing black suits.

“It is for the club or the restaurant,” Rudy said.

“It is like a chic drink.”

It was important to maintain a “high standard.”

Rudy started the business with brother Charly.

“The plan is to bring this new energy drink to this country and to get it around the UK,” Rudy said.

But said he knew it would be difficult to get onto the shelves of supermarkets like Tesco.

“We’ll start with the small retailers,” he said.

No Limit will be launched in Cardiff on February 21 at chain pub Missoula.

Like Red Bull it is hoped No Limit will prove popular as a cocktail mixer.

“The theme of the evening, in keeping with the product’s title, will be no limit,” organiser Vicky Patterson said.

“So guests are advised to expect the unexpected.”

But the launch got off to a bumpy start when promotional material was sent out claiming Bluebirds striker Bellamy played for bitter rivals Swansea, and spelling Sagna’s first name incorrectly

The errors were attributed to a “design error”.

They say that about everything, but I used to buy energy drinks all the time. Don't buy them much now but I've never been refused
