Tue Jan 29, 2013 11:16 am

New Cardiff City star Fraizer Campbell is ready to fire the goals the get Bluebirds into the Premier League promised land.

The former Manchester United frontman said: “This team is doing really well and the moment and I’m not sure they need any new players.

“But I am looking to give them that extra push to get them promoted."

The 25-year-old made the drop from Premier League Sunderland to Championship Cardiff in the hope of firing the South Wales side into the top flight for the first time since 1961.

He joined up with the squad during their Dubai training camp last week.

Today, he said: “Meeting up with the boys in Dubai was great. I still feel like I’m settling in and getting to know all the lads but I am looking forward to playing some football and scoring some goals.

“My decision to come here was all about the manager. He is well respected by all of the players here and that will stand us all in good stead.”

The Bluebirds are currently 10 point clear at the top of the Championship and hope that can fire the goals to get them up in the coming months.

Campbell said: “This is a top team with a top manager and in six months time we have to be in the Premier League.”

I like this lad. Quiet, unassuming, no ego. Just hope he isnt played up front
on his own. But I can see him linking up with Tommy Smith and building up
a pretty good partnership for the run in
