BLUE AWAY KIT TO REMAIN

Fri Feb 01, 2013 4:28 pm

Cardiff City have confirmed the club will retain a blue away kit next season as officials revealed a new club crest could well be introduced in 2013/14.

The news came as the Championship leaders revealed season ticket prices for next year - a season fans hope will herald the start of a new era of Premier League football.

Cardiff will continue to wear a red home kit, while a third kit of another colour will also be developed.

The club revealed prices for the 2013/14 season on its website as tickets went on sale. Tickets will initially be capped to a maximum of 20,000.

Amid the season ticket announcement, the club took the opportunity to address rumours that the club rebranding – which has seen it change its home colours to red – could be extended ahead of the new season.

Some fans have raised concerns the club could do away with the traditional blue kit altogether after wearing it only five times this season.

In a Frequently Asked Questions page, Cardiff confirmed it was looking at a new club emblem but added it would retain a blue shirt of some description.

A club response read: “Yes, a blue shirt will feature in our kit range for the 2013/14 season.

“The home shirt will again be red. Our two away options will feature blue and another colour.

It added: “The club are currently exploring the possibility of changing the crest, although nothing has been finalised or decided at this time.”

In terms of season tickets, anyone is free to buy now but existing season ticket holders have the chance of securing their current seat for next year up until 5pm on Saturday March 30.

Season tickets – available in person, on the phone or through online eticketing –will then be taken completely off sale at 5pm on Monday April 8.

With City seven points clear at the top of the Championship, they are in pole position for promotion and welcoming the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal to the capital next season.

The new pricing structure showed the most expensive seats will be in the grandstand where an adult season ticket for the new season costs £599.

But the club has honoured a five-year price freeze pledge to those who committed to the 2010/11 season as part of the controversial “Golden ticket” scheme sold by ex-chairman Peter Ridsdale.

I guess that comes under the question about the crest which it seems is undecided.

No comment from me. I will just say

I've accepted the red but let's be in blue for our first year in the prem if we make it.

The world will be watching

Not really, all it says is that a crest is being decided - quite easy to say if a bluebird will be a part of it..

Simple request to respect the fans before taking money off us.

Well if they haven't decided on the crest how will they know if the bluebird is on it or not
I should imagine they will mock up some with and without the bluebird before deciding.

Quite a simple request to respect the fans opinions before taking their money too. :thumbright:

Don't give over any money then, no one us being forced.

People buying season tickets are aware we may have a new badge and it may or may not have a bluebird.

Hopefully it will.

After forking out £259, if the Bluebird is removed I will be VERY pissed :x

Were you only going to buy/renew your season ticket if the bluebird was retained?

You knew that the bluebird may be removed before buying your season ticket (its discussed on here weekly) so I don't understand why you would be VERY pissed if its removed?

If it bothered you that much then why did you renew now? Why not wait until you know?

I know the answer - you didn't want to miss out on having a season ticket for City in the Premier League and this ultimately trumps your desire for the bluebird to remain.

People know the score:

- We will be red next season
- The bluebird may be removed from the badge
- There will be a blue away kit

Those are the facts and people have to decide for themselves if they are happy to proceed with spending ££££ on this basis.

Spot on. Im just glad they have come out and said up front we will have blue next season as the season tickets have been released. Isnt that what people wanted?

Hopefully they will decide to make the right choice and keep the bluebird

Not stepped foot in the stadium this year at all, do you really think I'm going to buy a ST?

Why would I be pissed if the Bluebird goes? Because it's our heritage and I respect that, and I've always known myself as a Bluebird. I could never call myself a Red Dragon, personally Wales doesn't even mean too much to me, so I wouldn't care is the Dragon was removed altogether. And I was going to get one anyway, not having one this season is difficult

No I didnt know if you had but i was just wondering. I respect you more that your have stuck to your guns.

The biggest hypocrits are the ones that cry bloody murder over the rebrand but are happy to keep giving the money and then slag off other fans who have "accepted the rebrand.

No no, you said that you would be pissed if the bluebird goes after paying for your season ticket therefore suggesting that you have renewed on the basis that the bluebird will remain which is quite clearly not the case.

Well I explained wrong then, my bad. Absolutely hate the rebrand but Cardiff City is something I can't completely stay away from. I don't know how I would feel if the Bluebird goes, but I fear for it

At the end the day now is the time to put up or shut up.

People now know the score, there should be no refunds if people renew then change their mind.

I agree, it will be a sad day but I think we have to be realistic and accept that tan wants it and the blue gone so we all have to make the choice - is tans CCFC one we can continue to support.

Personally I dont believe we will hardly ever see the Blue KIt worn again, You heard our CEO last week say, he prefers Black than Blue  They are slowly fazing our identity out.

Here is what they are saying in Scotland

Carlito Dunn
Stand AMF
More disgruntled ''customers'' look set to walk away from their club in the Welsh Capital is seems (not that they will matter), as rumours spread that next season will see a complete removal of the Bluebird from the Cardiff Badge, and only a Blue kit will remain as probably a third strip they'll never have to wear. This is the price of glory for the premier league dream eh? Sad.
