Fans demand: “Don’t take our Bluebird away!”

Sat Feb 02, 2013 9:42 am

CARDIFF City have launched the hottest ticket in town – but fans are demanding: “Don’t take our Bluebird away!”
City have around 20,000 season ticket holders and the launch for next season – possibly at Premier League level – has been initially capped at that level.
Many fans qualify for a price freeze from the golden season-ticket scheme and that provides great value if the Bluebirds do go up in May.

But supporters still want answers after City revealed they are exploring the possibility of changing the club crest again.

Tom Hartley, chair of Cardiff City Supporters Trust, said: “Our members want to know whether the Bluebird will be on the crest and whether there are to be further changes to the kit before they make decisions on renewing season tickets.
“We look forward to meeting with club officials over this issue soon.”

The Trust are happy with season- ticket prices and Hartley said: “They are excellent and we applaud the club for sticking with the golden ticket scheme as promised.”
City's golden ticket scheme, guaranteeing fans a five-year price freeze, was launched in 2009.
An existing season-ticket holder in the family stand will be able to renew for £329 for next season and take their children to games at excellent rates.
These are £49 for the season for those aged under-16, and free for those aged under-nine. A £10 administration charge applies. :ayatollah:

Don't know if tickets being free for under Nines is good really. Surely if there was a charge there would be less empty seats on match days, parents would be more inclined to take their children if they've paid for their tickets. :old: :ayatollah:

Good to see the Trust doing something. Finally. Red I can cope with just about. Hes pumped
in millions and if his preference is red? well we might just have to swallow it but
the loss of the Bluebird is needless, particularly now an official body have made it clear it
should stay. If the Bluebird goes its an insulting slap in the face

I agree. The loss of the Bluebird would be needless, as the RED has already achieved VT's objectives

However, to some extent, it might be perfect timing for him to do it IF he is going to

How many would GENUINELY walk away and not renew season tickets when we are on the verge of Premirship football?

Not many (and I mean one or two at most) despite what one or two might say on here

Let's hope VT takes not that we can jsut about acccept the colour change but would prefer the Bluebird to stay nested in the very fabric of Cardiff City FC

One thought I did have is if it cannot stay on the badge then could it be incorporated elsewhere, e.g. on the back of the neck collar or even as a watermark through the back of the shirt? :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

As far as im concerned the badge has been changed so it doesnt matter if it changes again. Even if it looks better its not the badge i associate with City.

If im honest i would prefer the bluebird as a seperate entity on the shirt as it would be special rather than a bit part on a badge. Dont ask me why though lol

Im fine with the bluebird being removed from the badge, its just an after thought on it at moment looks a bit silly. think it should be on back of collar it would be much better on its own

I honestly don't believe he has 'contempt' for the wishes of Cardiff City fans. Why would he? :?

He is (IMO) a man who has his own vision and his own methods of getting the job done. So far so good ;)

Don't get me wrong, I would prefer to keep both the Bluebird and the blue but I am not that short-sighted that I cannot see the 'bigger' picture here and it is a price I will reluctatly accept to secure a future for the club I love :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Do you honestly think he will reveal anything BEFORE the season ticket window is closed (or the season itself for that matter) and fans have comitted to next season?

Everything so far is based on rumour and conjecture and until a statement is made either way then we might be winding ourselves up over nothing (although equally we might not) ;) ;)

Are you saying you WON'T renew IF the Bluebird was removed? :? :ayatollah:

You are my Cardiff my only Cardiff,
You make me happy when skies are grey,
you never notice how much I love you,
please don't take my bluebird away.

well i for one think the bluebird is bigger than the club , on the kit , its our pride as fans , and our club. before the new owners so to speak . as fans , we have gone the extra mile so far with red, all we ask is the bluebird to stay ??? not a lott to ask for our support ???? or is it , ive said no bluebird no me. and ive been going since 1966 and my boys . :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :old:

Of course it would , he has got his way with everything else without any consultation of the fan base , playing in red , dogshit badge , of course getting rid of the bluebird would be showing contempt for the wishes of the fans .

Sorry, I don't agree. The guy can effectively do what he wants and there is little us fans can really do about it other than walk (only to be replaced by plastics paying more money than we do now) :(

People say "the Bluebird is bigger than the club itself" but it isn't. It IS a symbol, but things change in all walks of life and this is (or might be) just one such occasion ;)

We don't have to like it (and I certainly don't) but we do have to appreciate that the money man has the final say in all things ;)

We haven't complained that he has pumped £millions into the club or that he has installed Malky and given him the backing to take us 10 points clear and pushing serously for the Premiership, have we? :?

No, we haven't, have we? ;)

There are far more imprtant things to worry about at Cardiff City FC and the main one WAS its very survival before VT came along, so maybe (just maybe) it's SOME OF US who are showing the REAL contempt for VT, eh? ;)

Just an alternate view, mate :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
