Cardiff manager Malky Mackay hailed substitute Fraizer Campbell after he made the telling difference with the solitary strike in the league leaders’ victory over Leeds.

Campbell, who was making his debut for the Welsh club after joining from Sunderland in last month’s transfer window, scored two minutes after entering the fray as a replacement for Bo-kyung Kim. “I know to my cost what he’s like in this division,” Mackay said.
“When he played for Hull a few years ago he scored 18 goals in 36 games, he’s a really willing runner, an intelligent footballer and someone who knows where the goal is. We’ve given him a chance to prove himself again and he wants to take it with both hands. I’m delighted with him”.
The result extends Cardiff’s advantage at the top of the standings to 10 points. Leeds, who suffered their first league defeat at home since Nov 10 stay in 12th, six points off the play-off positions.
In truth there was little to choose between the two sides and Neil Warnock’s men had the better of the first half. On another day his Leeds side would have gone into the interval ahead but they were unable to muster the finishing power that had helped them beat Tottenham in the FA Cup last Sunday. Ross Barkley was the main culprit, firing straight at David Marshall from six yards in the 34th minute. Four minutes later the midfielder was presented with a chance to atone for that miss but fired wide.


In contrast, Mackay’s team struggled to create a chance of note, though Leeds could count themselves fortunate when Craig Bellamy was ruled offside after poking the ball past Paddy Kenny.
While Cardiff showed more attacking intent in the second period the game was decided by a mistake from full-back Sam Byram. His miscued clearance fell straight to Bellamy, who fired a left-footed effort towards Kenny’s goal which Campbell diverted into the bottom left-hand corner.
Tom Lees almost provided an equaliser in the 78th minute but his bullet header was straight at Marshall, leaving Warnock feeling aggrieved at the final whistle.
“I think everything about today was cruel. We’ve missed an open goal and a young lad has made a schoolboy error,” he said.

Not only are we going up i believe we will win the title by more than the ten points we lead by at the moment.

I wish I had your confidence. I just can't get passed the feeling that its going to go wrong! Years of disappointment I suppose. Ill go as far to say that we should definitely make the play offs.........!

I don't like to get ahead of myself, but I can't see how we wont go up now , we need 8 wins from 17 games that would put us on 87points can anyone really see us not winning 8 games ?

A couple of things about this fantastic result and why I believe it's 100% guaranteed that we are going up. Firstly we have come into a game having been away in the Sun, so in some cases, this little break can have a detrimental effect, the players mentally switch off, they lose an edge and therefore take time to get going again. However, what has happened, witnessed by yesterday's win is that the warm weather training camp has had the desired effect. The players have come back refreshed and are 100% focused. Secondly, this was a hugely tough game to come back to, Leeds haven't lost at home since November, 6 straight wins, you couldn't have asked for tougher test. Yet the team have overcome it. I cannot see in anyway that this particular Cardiff team under this particular manager will go on any form of bad run, that is why we are going up and probably as Champions
