The Vetch Field Origin

I like football trivia and was interested to learn the origin of the name for Swansea Town FC's original Vetch Field and apparently (and I quote the presenter) a 'Vetch' is a "small cabbage-like vegetable that grows on rough ground"

So, it effectively means that Swansea Town played amongst the cabbages...

Must have had an effect, as Huw Jenkins is looking to expand their new stadium to accommodate another 9,000 of those said cabbages!!

Also noted the sign at the back of the stand saying: "Swansea - Wales' Waterfront Town"

Doesn't give too much away but I hear they have considered changing their name to Swampsea

So it seems odd that some members wish to have a go at the origins of past or present grounds of other clubs without considering that we are providing more than ample ammunition for them to lob back at us.
