Cardiff city - The collapse stats

Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:30 am

Well we getting to that time of the season when our notorious collapse begins ...
Lets take a look at our last 4 seasons.
2011~2012 - played our last 16 games and went from 3rd to 6th and scored 25pts.
2010~2011 - played our last 16 games and went from 2nd to 4th and scored 25pts
2009~2010 - played our last 16 games and went from 5th to 4th and scored 27pts
2008~2009 - played our last 16 games and went from 6th to 7th and scored 22pts

Our average over those 4 seasons on the run in is 25pts which would take us to 89 pts.
Only West brom over those 4 seasons have scored higher pts as a 2nd place team.
Could Leicester and Hull both go through 89ts barrier ?

Surely only a monumental collapse by Malky and his team can prevent us from going up this season.

:ayatollah: :ayatollah: If we collapse and only get 25 more points as last few years great!!!! That gives us 89 points champions

i honestly think the points needed for promotion this year will be low in comparison to other years purely because the sides in the bottom three have already got 30 odd points and willl probably have high 40's by the end of the season but will still go down. This usually means a lower points tally at the top. 84 I feel is the magic number this year. (7 more wins, two in the next seven days will help!) :D

 :malky:

thats what I was thinking!

Although, I'm sure with our squad, we should be looking to win EVERY game now! ;)

Yes I agree , I was thinking 85~86 pts will get us promoted

I don't get this whole "bottled it" thing.

Only once did we really collapse, the last season at Ninian Park.

Last season, we over-achieved in fact - that squad should never had got to playoffs and a cup final.

I think we will hit the 30 mark with the games remaining.

I can see us getting 30-35 points from our remaining games. :malky:

Let's hope the remaining games THIS season aren't as pointless as this thread, eh? ;) ;)

New season, new manager, new direction...the Premiership!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Spot on. We only collapsed vs Preston. Also against Blackpool it was a KO competition and anything can happen.

Dave Jones team bottled our chances! Malky hasn't bottled nothing, didnt have the depth last year, had a cup run to contend with, and when we needed the points to finish in the playoffs we got them! :ayatollah: in malky we trust :malky:
