If City fans want the nickname of the Bluebirds to remain then it is up to them to just keep calling the club by that nickname. I may be wrong but I recall reading somewhere of how the name came about, and the name came before any emblem or badge was designed.
When you go to games just wear retro blue shirts, take a blue scarf and chant Bluebirds just as you have always done. Then it will remain whether the shirt is red with a bluebird on it or not. It really is as simple as that.
If the fans in their thousands are indifferent or apathetic to it then the the nicname of the Bluebirds will fade away.
It's a bit like a guy I knew years ago had the nickname of Dai Squint. He did not call himself it and he didn't like it but enough people called him it and it stayed for evermore. A nickname is what people call you, not what you decide to call yourself.

So that's good then. It will survive because the fans wanted it to survive.

it say in Fred Keenor's book,
that we changed to blue back in 1911 & the fans christened the clubs nick name the bluebirds which was down to this very popular play that was being shown in cardiff theatre at the time called "the blue bird" & cos it was such a popular show in the theater the fans started then started calling cardiff bluebirds cos of the colour of the top & the popular show

Thank you for that Aberdare-blue,That is what i recall reading, endorsing my post. It is up to us not the club to continue the name Bluebirds despite the politics of the situation. The fans started it and the the fans can maintain and perpetuate it. It's up to us!
