The Free Scarf & More

Fri Feb 15, 2013 6:09 pm

Just found this on the ccmb message board, quite a read:

"Hi all, I work in the marketing and PR departments for the club. I've signed up to just say, first and foremost, a big thank you for your immense support over the course of this season. To those of you who have decided to not attend this year as the club enters what could be termed a new golden era, I hope that we will see you back soon.

You all seem to be well aware of the free scarf giveaway coming up and we at the club are absolutely delighted that this wonderful gesture from the owners has managed to inspire such fire and passion in the fanbase. For me personally, I know that a free scarf will be much appreciated on yet another cold day in South Wales and I'm happy to see so many will be appreciative of the gesture.

As for the slightly less mentioned Chinese New Year half time celebrations, we are looking forward to bringing something new and exciting to the Cardiff City Stadium during half time. We have an amazing display planned and hope that we can introduce more of these types of half time shows during next season. More events themed around other festivals from around the world are being planned and we hope that you will join us as we try to engage our fans from all over the world.

That said, our local fans are also very important to us, which is why the owners have generously allowed us to give away the scarves, as a small way to show our appreciation for those of you who have stuck by the club through thick and thin over the years, often at great personal expense. There will be further giveaways and competitions in the new year, as we strive to develop Cardiff City into a worldwide brand known for treating our fans well, as well as great football.

You will be pleased to know that merchandise sales in Asia have risen a staggering 2000% over the last year, with Malaysia in particular an area showing what can only be described as amazing growth in merchandise sales. As the club pushes forward into new markets such as China, we hope to continue this globalisation process, making Cardiff City the number one iconic team in Asia, rivalling Manchester United and Real Madrid in terms of fan numbers.

We are looking forward to a sea of red at the upcoming games, with a lucky ring of red formed all the way around the pitch, whether it's scarves or shirts, helping our players achieve their best. To those of you who are considering not accepting a scarf, I hope you change your mind before the game, so that you too can be a part of this monumental occasion for the club.

Many thanks for your continued support and we hope to see you soon!"

I hope these half time shows are a one game thing, I'd rather watch kids teams play on the pitch, means a lot to them
