Cardiff, the team with their heads in the sand

Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:17 pm

Alright chaps?

WoodYouBelieveIt? here, though I've had to change username because it seems you lot didn't like what I had to say. It's a sad state when someone is accused of trolling or wuming just because their take on things contrasts with the party line that many of you toe. In fact it was as a result of a conversation where one of your posters flung homophobic abuse at me, and me duly letting them know that I was going to ignore all their troglodytic posts from now on, that I got banned. Go figure.

If you want a forum where nobody's allowed to reveal such painful truths such as you aren't actually the biggest team in Wales from the majority of the world's pov (at this moment in time anyway), then that's fine - delete this thread and pretend it isn't the case.

It's a shame though, I was beginning to enjoy this forum and had started to suss who the sensible posters that it was worth conversing with were. I'm sure I'll be back some other time and if I'm still able to post then, great. If not well, that will be the final nail in the coffin where my respect for Cardiff's fanbase currently lies. I want to like you lot in general because I'm good friends with a Cardiff fan from my Uni days, whether I'm able to or not is all up to you.

As usual, I close with a message for the non-demented users of this forum: You have my commiserations. :)

If Leicester could get draws V Palace, Watford ad Hull if they have any of them left to play that'd be great

I think you were mistaken for another poster who generally WUMs here, hence your ban.

You make some valid points, except the biggest team in Wales - Swansea are more successful at the moment, but bigger? No way!

It appears you have the views of most away fans - that colours should not be changed. I wholeheartedly agree, however, most City fans don't seem to care; as long as they get their precious premiership.

Many cling on to the fact it was "red or dead" where even our own CEO at the time said that was never the case.

I still get ashamed when I think of how easy the majority of our support rolled over.

And you didn't 'roll over'?

Come on then, what did you do to make such a stand against it?

Yeah I probably worded that wrong - I wouldn't be surprised if Cardiff has a larger fanbase being the capital and all.

What I meant was that Swansea are now much better known as a football team than CCFC. The place Cardiff is obviously much more well known than the place Swansea, and like I say probably has the bigger fanbase, but in terms of the football teams' reputation worldwide, it's a no-brainer that the premiership team are more well known. It'll be interesting to see how that changes next season (I highly doubt you lot'll f**k it up this year).

Honestly? It might be a case of the old blue-tinteds, but I genuinely think Leicester have become the more reputed of the two in recent years. Of course they've got the European trophies of 33+ years ago to fall back on but that kinda says it all when it's still their main argument today.

RICK+CCFC wrote:PS, i almost forgot, do you think its auto or po for LCFC???

Very tricky one that. It's in our hands at this point in time, but with 16 left to play (in our case), there's still a lot that can happen. I reckon we've got the quality in our squad overall, but Watford/Udinese are on a good run and Hull are being stubborn bar stewards too so it's looking like it'll go right down to the wire.

I think Udinese may come 2nd anyway, they've well and truly wrung that loophole...

Though I'm no fan of the scabs I have to say that that particular side was one of the best I've ever seen live and if CCFC or LCFC had done similar we'd still be talking about it-Guaranteed

Sneggy, you're right. I hate the scabs as much as the next guy but they always have and always will be bigger
than Leicester. And not just because of Robin Hood :D

Don't get me wrong, it'd be wonderful to have European trophies in the cabinet, no matter how old, but the last trophy they won was the League cup of 1990 (runners up in '92). We won it in '97 and in the last final at Wembley in 2000, with a runners up medal in '99. Not exactly recent I know, but more recent in any case. Add to that we spent 4 years in the prem without them before joining them below in 2004 and we certainly have more to be proud of in recent times than them.

*Edit*: I mean at old Wembley - before the twin towers fell.
