A new "fans" view of the rebranded

Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:56 am

I'm 50 years old today and have supported Cardiff since I was a kid - however, along with a few close mates and/or my daughter/her boyfriend and my nephew started actually attending games about 6 years ago. I now attend about 8 home games a year. I stand in the canton end every game

I also view this forum most days, however I rarely contribute

So what's my point - to most of the regular contributors on this forum, I will be seen as a "new fan" (plastic!). therefore let me give you my view on the red rebrand - I f*cking hate it, and so do my friends/family that I attend with (other than my 13 year old nephew!)

So not all "new" fans support the rebrand. I was as shocked as anyone to see the red scarves on display on Tuesday

As my dear dad said to me last autumn when he was given a few weeks to live - " you can only play with the cards you have Been dealt" - therefore we play in red, we can't change that, but what we can do is not buy any red merchandise, get someone to make a load of blue scarves for people to buy, create a better atmosphere at the stadium, get the bloody old flags out again and start recreating our passionate, tribal identify that most Cardiff fans still want. - even the majority of us new fans!

I can't see how all this talk of cardiff city being dead/walking away etc helps - we can't be defeatist, we are Cardiff city, the bluebirds, and we can make a stand!

Enough of my rant, off now for a pint for my birthday
