Vincent Tan business acumen

Fri Feb 22, 2013 1:01 pm

He or his people have shown their business acumen. A relatively cheap promotional gimmick to gauge the feeling of the local consumer. These people are professional sales, procurement, marketeers and image consultants. They must have been happy with the initial uptake but they know the truth lays in the upcoming five or six games whether the consumer stays loyal to the brand.

Free stuff is that, free stuff. I eat the peters sausage rolls they supply us in the family end but don't end up purchasing any at Tesco's.

On reflection tactically he may have played this too early, the loss didn't help either. His face was thunder when I seen him walking towards the changing rooms Tuesday night.

This is South Wales. If its free take it, work out what you are going to do with it later.

Ive said this before.

Its not about embracing the rebrand. Its about acceptance. Majority of fans have not embraced it but they have accepted it. Either way Tan gets their ST money.

By Tan gets it you really mean, Tan recieves it in way of putting less money into the club to keep us afloat. Tan doesn't get any of this money...

What a load of bollocks. It was fully embraced on Tuesday evening.

Mere acceptance would have been still go along to watch the team, sadly accepting for the good of the club we have to watch 10 players running around on the pitch in a red kit instead of blue, and politely declining the scarf, or at the very least not putting it on, waving it in the air, wear 2 or 3 around your f*cking neck, mocking those wearing blue.

You can put whatever spin you like on it Craig, anyone with a pair of eyes and half a brain could see that was fully embraced on Tuesday evening.

This summer they should just change the name, f**k the bluebird off, and put the red seats in this summer and stop strining everyone along.

I was speaking to our marketing guys and they thought it was quite a skilfully crafted "gift".

The gift was cheap, instantly usable on an cold night. A scarf is quite prominent worn externally and the night enhanced the bright red. The free season ticket was clever just to keep you in the game- we all like free stuff.

If we gave away free umberallas with any logo or message out in the middle of queen street when its lashing down, punters will grab one. Its what you do to endear people to your product or service.

The next few weeks will be telling, more so than Tuesday, we (as a group) were suckered in by the ad men.

Time will tell, we may have been embarrassed to refuse the steward or wanted the free season ticket, but we all have a choice whether to wear it or not over the next few weeks.
