Balancing Act Promotion v Re Brand

Fri Feb 22, 2013 8:19 pm

There are some 'fans' on the forum today who quite openly state that the majority of fans accept the rebrand because the show of red on Tuesday night.

Lets get real, up until Tuesday has the CCS been a sea of red? You might see the odd adult with a red home shirt on but the majority have been the youngsters. Based on the fact that the club have given out FREE red scarves and then given the incentive of wearing the scarf in exchange for a free season ticket how does it become all of a sudden that the majority support the re brand. I can't believe that the majority of 25K would want to throw away with 108 years of Cardiff City history and tradition.

Where are fans supposed to put a freebie scarf on a cold winters night. The majority do not carry bags to conceal them. Where you you normally put a scarf? All, of a sudden everyone approves of the re brand.

Its quite simple, at the moment we are thankfully at the top of the Championship and everyone is happy to be there. Would those pro red fans be happy of the change if we were sitting mid or lower table. The obvious answer is "No". Fans can see the promised land in the distance so anything can be done to the club because premiership football is in our grasp. How many fans can honestly say that they are happy to see the clubs identity change. The investment made by the owners is appreciated but at what price? I suppose its a question of whats more important, ones history and tradition and what you stand up for or the promise of premiership football. Hopefully we will make it to the promised land this season and be there for a long time. What happens if we do not make it or come back down straight away? There are fans who welcome the re brand regardless but I believe that many are blinkered by the thought of premiership football.

One certainty is that ALL Cardiff city FC fans would love to see us play in the premiership, its a shame that it cannot be done in the historical club colours, with the bluebird that is a part of our heritage. One final note, lets see how many people wear these scarves week in week out once the incentive of a free ST runs out. There is a fair sized blue fan base out there hence the observation that the " majority of fans have accepted the re brand " because of some freebie scarves is I believe far from the truth. Regardless of fans feelings the team need everyones support. :malky:
