What neuteral Local Derbies have you been to ?

and what was it like ?

I went to Merthyr vs Hereford which was way back in the day. Chris Pike was playing for Hereford. I can't remember the score or anything but I guess you could say that match was kind of neutral and a derby!

I went as a kid to Newport County v Merthyr at Spytty park back in the 90's. It was mental, fighting all over the ground. Nobody watched the football, and the game ended up being like 3-3, all I can remember as a 9 year old is of grown men with faces full of blood

It put you off then ?

Ive been to Saints v Pompey and Man Utd v Man City. Saints Pompey was poor for atmosphere. United v City was okay.

about 3 seasons back i went to swindon to watch them play bristol rovers ,f----in mental, they hate each other,swindon fans wound them up singing,"are you sheepshaggers in disguise",seats flying about everywhere close to us.lol

the madrid derby four years ago 1-1 a bit wierd there were only a bout 500 away fans .loads of trouble outside the stadium fighting with the police tear gas ,rubberbullets at half time .

The London derbies were spread between 1983 and 1993 and at both sides involved grounds during different seasons. Some were absolutely mental

Millwall V Westham at both grounds a war Zone in the 90's.
Leeds v Bradford no where near as bad.
Sunderland V Middlesborough, Boro ran Sunderland everywhere.
Chelsea v Westham both grounds in the 80's, Westham took every end of Chelsea's.
Millwall v Chelsea both grounds. 80's and 90's Millwall ran Chelsea ragged.
Spurs v Chelsea honours evens 90's.

I was in college in London around 1976/77 took my the girlfriend to Chelsea to watch Chelsea and Millwall. Now even by then being 21, I thought I'd seen football hooliganism at it's peak, but what I saw that day was half a step off total anarchy and it was absolutely mental, that must have tested the police to it's limit. We had seats in the stand but half an hour before kick off the shed end erupted, from what seemed like a hardcore of 50 Millwall soon turned into a shed seemingly split 50/50 with what appeared to be thousands of Millwall in there, mad scrapping back and fore charges, then suddenly the whole away end which held 1,000's of Millwall were up and running over the pitch, the police charged on with horses and they were just pulling the coppers off the horses, it was mental.

They got some sort of order with what must have been 99% of the met police called in and they got to half time some how with only another 3 or 4 pitch invasions and a triple row of coppers splitting the shed in two halves.

There was no way that all those fans were genuine Millwall, it was just a chance for everyone in the greater London area with any interest in hooliganism to have a day out. I left just after half time, thought my girlfriend had seen more than enough of a lads day out, it was a mad adrenaline rush day, partly scary but mostly exciting. Easily the maddest I've witnessed, and believe me I've witnessed a good few.

spent 14 years in the royal navy so used to go and watch as many games every time we went into a foreign port

for atmosphere

for violence ?

either galatasaray besikas or river plate boca both scary as shit mate flares going off darts being thrown could not see the mach for smoke beats our little derby hands down

yes mate at the boca game there were a few of us about 15 id say but galatasaray game i wient on my own lol

Pompey v Southampton (Fratton Park, sunday kick off 100s arrested all pompey, southampton shit themselves, Pompey all young Chavs funny as f**k)

Man Utd v Man City (At Main road Utd got run all over the place 200 on 200, flares, bottles, bats city were the Govenors that day)

Chelsea v Spurs twice last five years (honours even)

Palace v Brighton (both at Palace first game in years brighton took the piss, second game midweek year later 3.30ish (80 palace ran Brighton 30 Brighton everywhere)

Millwall v Pompey (Night Game, Millwall attacked pompey pub at 2-3pm baseball bats f*cking carnage)

Newport v Merthyr (Welsh cup final on the bob bank, then into the grange end Carnage all day and night)

Sorry last one West Ham v Millwall this year say no more (Sat in the bobby moore stand pure hatered)

went to watch Leeds v Huddersfield in early 80's as i was up that way at the time

uninspiring game but the trip back to the station after the game was a bit mad !

would Forest v Derby Country that really local derby? what about Leicester v Peterbrough always has good tasty in violence in 80/90s.......

look at Exeter v Plymouth always going on something or Bristol derby......

seen the footage of Chesterfield v Mansfield f*cking mad as well there good scrap wth Darlington V Hartelpool......

Was that in 1984 when Chelsea went back up and had Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin, etc in their team? I was at that game, mental West Ham invasion of The Shed and in the West Stand there semed to be hundreds of blokes in navy Tacchini Dallas tops just scrapping away Crazy days.

I went to Tottenham v Chelsea a little later that season. It was one of the first, if not the first, games to be moved to an a.m. kick off to prevent hooliganism. Nothing much happened near the ground, but I remember a big off near Seven Sisters tube a little later and, as we were going into the station, the old familiar "We are the famous CFC" chant followed by "f**k off" then a roar, then pandemonium and chaos
