What players would you like in January?

Tue Dec 15, 2009 3:02 pm

If we clear our financial issues, which I'm sure we will - what players would you like drafted in?

Ben Watson - Centre Midfeilder from QPR he was quality last night

Jason Koumas - Centre Midfeilder from Wigan he is never getting a game and is a brilliant player

Matty Fryatt - Striker from Leicester big strong striker scores alot of goals to.

Jermaine Beckford - Striker from Leeds brilliant player, playing in a rubbish league. Scores goals for fun.

I'm not sure we need Beckford or Fryatt, the other 2 are a good shout but I've been thinking about the Koumas thing and I'm not entirely sure about him. How about Gary O'Neil? An excellent player here before and, with Boro seemingly going nowhere, maybe he might fancy a chance of coming to a club in a better position to offer him a Premiership return?

Charlie Adam - Midfielder from Blackpool. Another Scottish player so should fit into our team looks a good player quick and exicting

here he is - http://www.blackpoolfc.co.uk/page/Profi ... 63,00.html

Is this a realistic list, or a sort of "Championship Dream Team"? I'm not sure some of these players would bother coming to us when their clubs are in as good a position as we are

Matty Fryatt and Beckford wouldn't come to us.

As for Koumas, he does seem like a realistic signing to be fair and would definitely sort our midfield problem out.

Maybe we should be more concerned about any possible transfer embargo (rumour) for January, and other finance problems, before we can talk about signings - As it looks at the moment, until the club say otherwise, we cant even afford to flush the toilets.

Yes, I've already stated that. I'm just curious as to what players some of the posters on here would like to come to our club.

Why wouldn't Fryatt come to us? Okay maybe not Beckford but Fryatt would probably on more money at Cardiff and I know Liecester are doing well but Cardiff have more chance of gaining promotion.

Ben Watson and Charlie Adam would be great signings, check them out they are quality.

Why do you think we have more chance of promotion than Leicester?

I'd like to see Koumas back here - if he's not being used.

Beckford is not proven anywhere else but League 1 ! Yes, he's scoring for fun, but the quality he is up against is nowhere near the standards of the Championship. Thats why i find it very risky if a premiership club were to come in for him? (which was rumoured) - so why we he even think about coming here?

I dont think Fryatt would leave Leicester - and not sure we need him anyway?

Gary O'Neill is a good shout, highly unlikely though.

We should obviously be looking to strengthen midfield, and a holding forward to cover Jay. Possibly a winger and Center Back? Cant think who though. These other rumours are distorting my mind!

1. More stabilty at the club been in this league for years, know about the league

2. Cardiff have been improving each year

3. Cardiff have won more games this year

4. Cardiff higer in the league

5. Longest serving manager in there league - shows stability

6. Possible investment with Mayalasians, would mean plenty of money for investment

7. Good proven players around the club. Michael Chopra, Peter Whittingham (Top scorers)

8. New Stadium

9. Massive fan base

10. Pay good wages, means more players will want to come to the club

Or they'll be looking to bounce back.

But I think this is going to be a draw myself

4. Cardiff higer in the league - for now - but it is very close and anything can happen!

5. Longest serving manager in the league - shows stability (Is he the longest serving manager for a reason???)

6. Possible investment with Mayalasians, would mean plenty of money for investment - the first word sums it up - POSSIBLE!

7. Good proven players around the club. Michael Chopra, Peter Whittingham (Top scorers) - Lets hope our best players dont get sold in January - what with all the embargo/financial rumours flying around?

8. New Stadium - Good point - but leicester also have a large capacity stadium which is fairly decent.

9. Massive fan base - Do we have a bigger fan base than Leiciester? if so where are the facts?

10. Pay good wages, means more players will want to come to the club - We pay over the odd's wages in desperation to sign players sometimes. Im sure His wages are not below average at the moment though?

I think he's referring to why would matt fryatt come to us rather than stay at leicester.

It's all very well listing the pro's ? but what about the cons? I'll highlight your post above in quote.

I don't think there are any deal breakers to come here though. Not in this list anyway. winning more games and being higher in the league at the moment isn't reason enough to sway it for a player leaving Leicester for us in the january transfer window. If we got promoted, then I think that he may leave, but we're 2 similar sized clubs with as much potential as each other as it stands at this very moment. they have a new(ish) stadium of similar size to ours and they are getting healthy crowds, similar to if not bigger than us, we may be higher in the league, but that could change on saturday. Winning more games this year won't make him come here, either. The possible investment with the Malaysians is just that at the moment. Possible. Until it happens we are in no position to use that as a bargaining tool. I think that, with pearson in charge and doing well, they have stability also.

It's not a dig, but at the moment matty Fryatt would probably look at moving to us as a sideways step, not a forward step

Cardiff have had more stability, where Leicester have gone down a few league and come up.

Cardiff have been improving at a higher league, know what the league is about.

Cardiff have long serving manager USUALLY shows stability e.g Fergie, Wenger, Moyes.

POSSIBLE investment yes, and if we get it will should have millions to spend.

Top scorers in the league, yes hopefully they stay.

New stadium yes i agree that Leicester also have nice stadium with big capacicty

Cardiff have a way bigger POSSIBLE fan base if we get in the prem you will see thousands of Cardiff fans crawling at of the woodwork. Leicester is in the midlands whcih had 7 or 8 clubs which seperates fans. Birmingham, Villa, WBA, Coventry, Forest, Notss County, Walsall Wolves. There are only 3 big clubs in a massive area of the South West Wales Cardiff, Bristol City and the SCUM.

Cardiff pay high wages, yes over the top wages, but the players wont care and will cum for good money

Re: What players would you like in January?

Sometimes it's good to go down a league. It sorts you out as a club and allows you to 'sweep clean' as it were. There are 'big' clubs who have done this and bounced back stronger than ever. Mind you, it doesn't always work. But it doesn't seem to have done Leicester too much harm as it stands

I want the players to care - to play with passion and wanting to wear the Cardiff shirt. Im Fed up of all these mercanaries looking for a big pay day, and fed up of the club blowing our Salary budget out of the water.

Agreed totally. What would you rather? One Robbie Fowler and one Hasselbaink or a load of Chris Burkes? I know what I would want

Re: What players would you like in January?

Tue Dec 15, 2009 4:49 pm

I agree with u i would want Fowler. I wud want 11 Chris Burkes

Im only saying high wages, increase the chances of a player cumin to a club.

If I were to be reluctantly honest here, Leicester play much better football than us, better stadium, better manager and aren't in debt. They've been in the Premiership not long ago and are a much bigger club than us.
