Pitch Battle

Sorry if this has been posted before but it seems that there could be a future problem if we got promoted to the Premier League and continued to share CCS with Cardiff Blues.

Like many of Peter Ridsdale's promises sharing with the Blues has affected the quality of the playing surface despite the high tech synthetic fibres which we were assured would stop it from cutting up.

Both Wigan and Hull have had the same problem with their rugby league teams and the Premier league may introduce a rule banning dual use of stadiums.

Just where would that leave us if it did happen?

It would leave the Blues having to move back to the Arms Park which would go down very well with them! :ayatollah:

I'd like to see how far the EPL could go with that, especially in the current climate. CCS looked pretty good on Saturday, on the other hand, a bit of rain and Turf Moor looked like an olympic pool.

Back in the mid-1990's the council proposed building us a new stadium on the International village site where I think the capacity would have been around 15k. I think that should be looked at again as that would be ideal for the Blues.

The council want the arms park site

Hull and Wigan don't have the same type of pitch as us and the Jacks, from memory.

it's a non-issue really. Man Yew's pitch was a bog not that long ago, needed relaying... hardly egg's fault.

Promotion would give us the financial means to afford the grow lamps that Swansea use and their [pitch looked superb last week

I think the problem is that we have had a harsh winter and the CCS pitch is new. It looked pretty flat though and not very bobbly on saturday albeit a little threadbare in the goalmouths/center circle.
We had one problem at the Liberty a while back when the Ospreys played on a friday night and it rained heavily before a swans game the next day. The pitch was quite bad and it cut up quite a lot. After that they knocked the idea on the head of having 2 games in 2 days on the pitch.
Our groundsman has done a terrific job with the pitch though, he is at the ground at 7:30 am before a saturday game and he really takes pride in what he does. He's an Aussie and looked after one of the big Rugby League stadiums over there.

If the pitch is cut up by the egg chasers it could have some advantages in the premiership - the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal would have a few problems with their passing game making the pitch a bit of a leveller ;)

To be fair the Jacks pitch does look top notch compared to ours. Apparently the reason our pitch is in a bad way is because we cant afford the correct equipment needed to repair it.
But if league rules says no to dual use then its cheerio Blues and i wont miss you. How will it effect the Jacks i don't know because the council own it and the Ospreys have just as much right to play there. But saying that the money generated by Prem football may make the council say to the ospreys to find another home. They like the Blues have appalling attendances so just like the Blues they could play in a park with a rope around the pitch.

It is not a 'non-issue' if the EPL ban the dual use of stadiums.
