Leaseing cars

Is this a good thing? As buying a new car you lose so much as soon as you drive it out of the forcourt, where as by having a motor on lease you can return it in 3 years and get another car. Sounds perfect to me, or are my missing something crucial here?

thats where they can bang you. If you do a lot of miles watch it, they can sting you at the end for a mileage penalty

Thanks for that Nigel, but thats one thing I dont do really is high Mileage, as I live where I work lol.
The furthest I go is down to Cardiff and once or twice in a year I drive to an away game, but thats not very often as I likes to have a few cheeky cans lol.

we buy our's outright leasing works out expensive but you do get better tax breaks if you are self employed, but you are not so i would not bother, and normally leasing is +vat

Chegs do it through your business. Will be able to claim it as a tax break and it will cost you a lot less. I am sure some of the guys more in the know with accounts etc on here will be able to help you more but I know loads of guys in the Forces who left, work as techies self employed and then do this with their car.

I will put it through the Business' for Tax reasons aswell. I want a new car but I aint buying a fucker lol.

IF you can do it through the business, and you dont do high mileage, then this is made for you I reckon....

In fact, I believe that if you agree to a certain LOW mileage, you can get an even better price !!

If you're leasing a car through a business, you can't claim petrol or any motoring costs through the company, it has to come out of your own pocket. But if its your own car you can claim your petrol and motoring costs provided you drive over 11000miles pa (I think its 11000 miles). So you just need to work out which is in you best interests. If your not shelling out too much on petrol then leasing would be a good option.

All you have to do is set your mileage right at the beginning of the contract ie 10,000, 20,000 miles per annum and if your circumstances change half way through your contract then you can adjust the contract to suit your current mileage needs.

Get your arse down Jeff White. All fairly new cars with mostly decent milage but without the ridiculous
cost of a brand new car. Got a 2.5 yr old Audi from there 3 years ago.. a good 8k off the brand new price
and not had a single problem with it since..

I have a lease car (12,000 miles p/a) and would never go back to owning a car outright. Everything is taken care of insurance, servicing, repairs and tyres.

I get a new car in September and so far I have done 23,000 miles (36,000 miles allowed) in 2½ years so milage hasn't proved a problem despite my 18 year old son borrowing it all the time.
