Wembley England v Wales, when the English slaughtered us on the terraces, Chelsea,Millwall,Westham all joined together to give us a kicking in the ground and after and it was England v Cardiff, No Jacks, No Wrexham and No Newport.

To be honest Annis, I was only 16, it came on top all game but there were plenty of mad taffs giving it back, majority of ours were in the upper section but plenty jumped down to get stuck in, not sure if it was this year but R**i P**a (RIP) outed a few cockneys single handed, I also got saved after the game but still in the stadium from a shoeing by our very own Frank, G***f R*e (again RIP) from Llnarumney went mental in the car park and went swatting the English like flies, I'm glad the mental days have gone but it seemed a good laugh at the time.

It did seem a great laugh at the time and the more frightening in them days the more Cardiff fans loved it, but I am with you on that we have all moved on

I would love just to be able to go back to that era just to see what it was like first hand, you always hear stories of the old days but i'll never get to experience it.

I will be honest some people took drugs I never have, the late 70's/80's were enough to give anyone a high, without that rubbish. Yes I get slated for it,but it was part of growing up and in My Opinion 90% of Cardiff fans participated.
Sun Apr 18, 2010 9:26 pm
In them days it was part of following Cardiff people always get slated because of the trouble but they were the ones who were following the club all over the country

We were and were virtually the only fans Cardiff had at the time.

Nice to see us put 1 over them on their own patch. Went to the link then for the next years game(78)at ninian and whats going on with the grange end it appears not to be there lol

Annis,
You and your ilk were not the only fans to be following City during the late 70's/early 80's, far from it.
90% contributed? No, we didn't.
We were small in number those days but the vast majority did not take part in the antics that you so glory in.
The majority of CCFC supporters in those days - like now - are well behaved, decent individuals who were sadly tarnished by the antics of you and a very small group of like minded degenerates.
If you've really moved on, then stop glorying in it.

G***F R*** from Llanrumney (RIP), now there was a great bloke, spent many a night in the Old Arcade through the week playing darts with him & then in the original Ninian pub on a saturday, great days ................ OMG i'm getting old !!!!!

Always had a good bunch of lads from Pontypool/Cwmbran in those days. Was at that game at Wembley but thought the Wales- Scotland game at Anfield was much worse.
Sun Apr 18, 2010 11:11 pm
I agree with annis & say that it was the majority in those who were up for a ruck, there never seemed a shortage of helpers when it went off in those days , in fact about 90% seemed about right1

I was 16 years old at the time and I remember catching the bus at Malpas roundabout with a bunch of absolute nutters from Cwmbran and Pontypool.
I remember the game well being surrounded on both sides in the upper tier and all mayhem going on, but as mentioned above the Scotland vs Wales game at Anfield was the most frightening game I have ever been to.

Claude your wrong, Rochdale,Carlisle,Lincoln AWAY etc etc etc etc when there were only 100 fans going away for night games over 90 were lads and I knew everyone of them. Tranmere away 12pm kick off only 250 fans up there I took 3 coaches myself, Claude are you sure you were Supporting them away in them days. Chelsea and Westham Away was 95% lads, I went to Westham away 3 years running from 1978-1980 SO I SAW IT FOR MYSELF. Claude for once admit when your wrong, dont just come on here to be sarcastic.
Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:50 am
Not being sarcastic at all, just putting over my view of away trips back in the late 70's/80's and clearly my recolloctions differ to yours.
My away days started around 1978 and I took in all the places you refer to. I'm not denying that trouble occurred on occasions but you make out that it was a constant event - it wasn't.
Perhaps the fact that we just drove up to games, had a pint, watched the match and went home means we missed all this constant aggro?

Things quietened down after my birth in 1983. Clearly because everyone got scared about what I might do if provoked... even at a few months old... mental!
