Bit of Honesty

Sat Apr 24, 2010 7:51 pm

What a season on the pitch we have had, at the start of it I thought we would finish in the top 6 but going into March I couldnt see us getting anywhere near it, so I am glad to say in recent weeks I got it wrong and there has to be a mention for the fact that we have come from behind 3 times in recent games to win so DJ deserves credit too.

But I still maintain my belief that we have been a lucky side this season too and that was summed up rightly by the shot Sheff Weds had at the end of the game that Marshall watched fly off the post and along our line :o

Carl, you have stood by your words and I partly agree, but I also believe you make your own luck in football and it evens out over a season.

your right carl there was a time not long ago i thought we were going to finish mid table, but coventry away changed all that with a lucky late pen and since then the team as got a bit of belief and we are now hard to beat , this time last year we would never have got a draw at forest and a win at qpr, and like i said this afternoon nobody as had a bigger part in that than darcy blake :ayatollah:

Carl, i will be honest i predicted us to finish 10th, glad i was wrong though, it is also good to see for a change that we have the fight and belief to come from behind and get a result, something we are not used to.

As for the shot the hit the post, fair play to the lad it was a belter and Carl we probably had the best view of it and i thought it was in all the way, but it seems the luck is with us and long may it continue. :ayatollah:

Think back throughout the season and consider all the bits of luck we have had, I think we were lucky to still have Whittingham cause again being honest who would have wanted him here at the end of last year :!:

but now he is the championships top scorer ;)

The Coventry game was sigifigant because of that lucky penalty (although have we had one since?) but I always think that the Middlesbrough game (home) was the real turning point.

It was the day of the protest march and basically it was a day when the supporters said they had put up with enough. In fairness to the players they seemed to understand how we felt and put in the first of a number gutsy performances which have led to where we are now.

IMO discovering that day that they had the will to fight in a tight situation added the missing link to a very talented side.
