get commenting, sounds like he's put the story out, i wounder why they want to take over and drop him out, because he lies and has raped this club

PETER RIDSDALE is to stand down as chairman of Cardiff City at the end of the season.

A consortium led by Malaysian businessman Dato Chan Tien Ghee has agreed to buy 49 per cent of the club for £6million.

But part of the deal means Ridsdale must stand down - just as Cardiff could break into the Premier League.

Dave Jones' team are already guaranteed a Championship play-off slot, despite a season-long battle against crippling debts.

But, faced with a winding-up order over a £1.7m tax bill, Ridsdale turned to the Malaysians to help safeguard the club's future.

They are expected to complete their buy-out today - and plan to install their own team to run the club.

A highly-placed Malaysian source said: "Peter can leave Cardiff with his head held high.

"Under his leadership debts have been greatly reduced, there is a new stadium and Cardiff are on the brink of Premier League football.

"He brought Mr Ghee to the table and, because of that, Cardiff will be able to meet their short-term debt problems.

"But it is not unreasonable that when new people come in they want to run the business with with their own people."

Cardiff's financial mess has included several winding-up petitions and their situation was highlighted again yesterday when players and coaches discovered their monthly pay packets had not been honoured.

Ridsdale succeeded Sam Hammam in 2005 and inherited a club spiralling into enormous debt, plus a team languishing in the Championship and playing in rundown Ninian Park.

Alongside manager Jones, he helped rebuild the team and spearhead the move into a state-of-the-art new stadium.

Between them, Jones and Ridsdale made £30m in the transfer market, including deals that saw Roger Johnson bought for £275,000 and sold to Birmingham for £5m - and a £4.5m profit when Michael Chopra joined Sunderland.

Jones then steered Cardiff to the 2008 FA Cup final.

Ridsdale, who has been under fire from City fans frustrated by the club's debt, was unavailable for comment last night.

But one immediate spin-off of the Malaysian connection for City is the possibility for a pre-season tour to the Far East.

It is probably the price we have to pay to get rid of him and as Since 62 suggested yesterday the club might wave any allegations that Ridsdale was a disaster in exchange for him stepping down without a pay off.

I can live with that because anything he says about his brilliant Chairmanship will not be believed and we will have finally got rid of the parasite on the cheap.
