If the Torys had a Thatcher style leader

at the helm for this election would they have won last night at a canter ?

It seems to me that a financially prudent Tory leader with a strong stance on immigration and EU relations would have been choosing the curtains in No 10.

In difficult social and economic times Thatcher won in 1979 and I can't help feeling that a more right of centre Tory party would have won out this time around.
