After being relegated from the Bundesliga, VfL Bochum supporters climbed over the fences, destroyed advertising boards, ran on the pitch and attacked their own players. Police in riotgear came onto the pitch to restore order again and had running battles in- and outside the stadium with angry Bochum supporters. The fans' aggression was only directed towards their own players and then the police and not against the almost 10.000 strong Hannover away support, who celebrated staying up due to their 3:0 win at Bochum.
Hertha Berlin fans did the same a couple of weeks ago, they were too relegated today losing to Bayern Munich.
