I went to school with someone who had just signed for Chelsea a few weeks before the other leg game at the Den, Gareth Hall his name was (played for Wales, too). I remember hearing about day long street battles from the TV reports on the news and about a Chelsea reserve player, Dale Jasper, who went to stand with the fans on the terraces at the Den. He was stabbed on his way to the game and only the thick leather jacket he was wearing saved his life
