at Man City sacking Hughes, in My Opinion I would of let this Season go.

New squad only 2 losses and they sack him after half a season. Ridiculous.

I dont rate Hughes as a manager and believe his tactics cost Wales a place in the Euro Championships when he opted to put Earnie on the bench. However sacking him after a victory and only 2 defeats all season is a joke. I'm sure the million pound compo deal will be a crumb of comfort.

They should have sacked him as soon as they took over. He hasn't got what it takes to manage a big team.

243 million spent and they defend like a Pub team, the pressure was always on wonder how long the new guys will get

I think they will suffer now,he was,nt really given a chance,i think the players might revolt most of them wont be happy.
Sun Dec 20, 2009 8:12 pm
would you revolt earning over £100,000 a week????? I would'nt give a monkey's toss if i was on their money who was in charge!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sacking Mark Hughes and replacing him with a more high profile manager was something which was bound to happen sooner or later so the Man City board may as well act now and get it done.

I am amazed he went before Rafa but if you look at money spent / games won then yes he was always going to go, some of the games they have drawn were just not good enough
Sun Dec 20, 2009 8:24 pm
i wonder how long they give the new manager now .
6 months , 1 year , 2 years ??

Is Man city going to become the QPR of premier league? What I mean is they've had a few managers with a lot of money and no real success.
But I kinda knew from the start that they wouldn't keep a Welshman in charge for long and end up with a foriegner.

absolutely the correct decision.Hughes vastly overated, hasnt proved himself.Im surprised he lasted so long,he wasnt appointed by current owners it was only a matter of time before they got rid.its difficult to see where he goes from here.

Definately harsh, kiss goodbye to the 4-3-3 now.
10-0-0 haha.

I think they jumped the gun. Their owners have to be realistic, the top four clubs are there because they took tme to build the right team. Footballing dynasties arent built overnight. I dont think Hughes wouldve won them the premiership in a few years if he had the time, but he certainly couldve done a lot of work toward building the clubs future and given them the platform to go on to bigger thiings in years to come. As it stand, Mancini will come in, and basically have to start from scrtach in January

I agree with most. He's not the best manager around and he did cost Wales our place at Euro 2008. However, since he left Wales he's been improving as a manager. He did a cracking job at Blackburn and was doing ok at Man City considering it was a newly pieced squad.
They should have given him this season and then if he hadn't done anything sack him. Mancini isn't much better so he's not going to improve things in the manner they want. They need a Mourinho or a Guardiola if they want to take the next step. I can understand why Hughes is miffed but at the same time he knew what he was in for when he took over. I know it wasn't the same ownership but the expectations were still similar.

If you watch the analysis of man City's games, especially when they struggle against sides who are considered weaker, their defence is a shambles. The defenders, especially the centre backs, have no understanding and this should have been addressed a long time ago. I think that it was the right decision and they probably wanted a more high profile manager in a long time ago and should have made the decision sooner

I definately would have given him until the end of the season, he would have turned things around. Some of his prima donna players let him down badly !!!!
The new guy will get quick results though because they have easy games, and I suppose he will change the style of play and tighten things up at the back..............

Would Hughes have turned things around?
Wales, lived off one good year.
Blackburn, did an ok, not great job. Blackburn were hardly paupers when it came to spending.
Man City, the money has been there. The performances have been poor, defensively abysmal, Hughes clearly lost the respect of players like Robinho.

If he was going to turn it round, he would have had to build almost an entire new squad. I agree that he was let down by some of the more prima donna-type players, but to get rid of them would have been a huge job, relatively speaking. And he was running out of time as it was
