big plans for malaysians

Sun Dec 20, 2009 2:34 pm

in news of world,it says they have ambitious plans to build a luxury hotel and casino at the leckwith base.
also a restaurant,a health club and a sports bar.
a bluebird insider says, the malaysians have made it clear that if they proceed with a large investment, they see it as an opportunity to develop the site.
there are 2 large areas of land, about 4 acres, available to purchase in the deal, theres already planning permission for the hotel and several projects have been proposed.
be good if it did happen.

I have got to say this and I know I will have a few people not agreeing, but I will Respect their Opinions, but Sam Hammam had all those plans done and got the out line planning for them, but never had the money to finish them.

He did, it was reported many times before, poor old Sam just ran out of money and fell out wit the council, if the Malaysians do come in, I am sure there is loads of money to be made......

the house of sport must be completed before any of those works take place
we have been given a 12 month extension to build it but it was part of the agreement with the council.

Yes, and there's already JJB Fitness club too.

There's planning for a Hotel and one or 2 other bits and the land is worth a few bob, so there may well be something in it.

I thought at one point he hotel site was going to be handed over to sam as part of the new deal. Doesnt look like this is the case, so good luck to PR if he can make use of this, but a big chunk of the profit will be needed for the 'house of Sport'

trouble is with the house of sport it wont be a big earner for the club considering the possible 3 million outlay to build it.
6 indoor pitches and a few other bits and bobs are hardly likely to boost the clubs coffers.

but we can forget about hotels or selling land on before this is done

Could set something up so that contracts are exchanged to build it at the same time as the land is sold ?

There was an article earlier this year where Ridsdale explained that the club had been given a 12 month extention to complete the building of the House of Sport. If for some reason the club failed to do so then the council had the power to take back the land and fund the building itself.
