" I ADMIT I MADE MISTAKES"

Fri May 14, 2010 8:04 pm

I over spent, I got carried away and wanted success to fast, I have lost personally Over £22 Million.
Before I came to this Club I had only ever relied on youth players coming through and good scouting and looking for bargains, but at Cardiff I just got swept away by the Fans and over spent. I will never let that happen again, I will rely on my academy and my instincts and business plans.

Sam Hammam Speaking Today. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Interesting, not sure how some fans would react but if as suggested it's to swap the debt for shared I think it could be a positive move.

Did Sam mention if he would be going to wembley annis?

annis my attitude to sam has mellowed a hell of a lot over the last year or so, i was pretty pissed with him the way things ended at the end of his time with city, but i do appriciate that we definitley wouldn't be where we are today without sam and he would definitley brighten up the place if he came back, i was thinking more along the lines of making him an honoury life president of ccfc, but if he was to return with a more hands on role at the club how do you think he would be able to work along side the malaysians because i have read on many occasions in the past that sam likes to run the whole show himself from top to bottom. what do you think.

he will be back in some form on the board :ayatollah:

i personally would welcome sam back.
he started the dream years back, and the yorkishire kent is now trying to take the credit.
they are both poor when it comes to the financial side of things, but sam was in it for the good of the club, he just got a bit carried away, sam had a dream and we lived every second with him.
riddler is in it for no one but himself. he is a greedy deluded money grabbing wanker !!! so for me the 2 of them are chalk and cheese !!!!

WE WANT SAM HAMMAn WALKING ROUND THE PITCH :D

We will always be thankful for what was achieved but that was the past. It'll be a sad day if Hammam is ever allowed to darken the corridors of City again.
He nearly destroyed our club. We haven't achieved anything yet but he still lurks like a rabid vulture. He will get his money as per the existing agreement. He should show dignity and back off.

Ridsdale and Hammam may be cut from different cloth but their primary motivation is the same, MONEY. This slavish sycophancy towards Hammam is beginning to nauseate.

I'd rather wipe the slate clean and start again with the Malaysians I think.
I'm grateful for what Sam started, but the position we're in at the moment I would rather put the past behind us.

I would imagine there would be a large number of fans who wouldn't welcome him back for what's happened in the past. His heart may have been in the right place, but there's plenty of people that wouldn't forgive him

Onwards and upwards I say. But we'll have to see what happens

I too would like to see Sam involved with Cardiff in some way, I know it all went sour at the end but this fairytale story we are all involved in was started by Sam and i've got to pinch myself at where we are now after being a fan for almost 30 years.

I always say you find out who your friends are when you are at the bottom or your backs against the wall.Sam Hamman was no doubt told not to touch Cardiff city with a barge pole,we were dead in the water, poor support, poor ground, poor team and a bad reputation for hooliganism.
well he ignored that and lifted the club into the championship less than 4 years after taking over.yes he made mistakes, yes he borrowed money against the club(but without him we would not have been lent it)yes he has left us on a knike edge with langstone.but...............if he never came we could be where wrexham and luton town are now....and still in debt.
his greatest achievment for me will always be the acadamy....and we should remember him for that if nothing else.
if he comes back now in some capacity i for one will welcome him because of what he done to get us into the position we are today.

To those who say thay would like Hammam back, and without letting your hearts rule your heads, one simple question... What would be the benefit to Cardiff City and to us,the supporters?

He knows Football inside out and apparently the Malaysians have been contacting him direct.

He's a good communicator to the fans, nobody can deny that. But.........I see no possible advantages. I doubt I'll ever trust him, he wants his money.......
His debt looms large on the books, I would expect the Malaysians to contact all major creditors at the earliest, standard business practise. I just hope he's not trying to worm his way back with a debt reduction proposal.

I personally would not like to see Hammam back.

He deserves credit for waking the club up and having an exciting vision for the CCFC but the shambles he left at the end of his tenure is ingrained in the minds of many City fans.

I don't see how Sam returning would serve any useful purpose to CCFC.

Let's be totally honest here, and explore the logic.....

FOR ANYONE THAT CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO READ IT ALL THOUGH - If we have a creditor who is PREPARED to take less than is owed by converting to SHARES INSTEAD OF CASH (DEBT) we as a club would be mad to not go for it....

So, that said, for those you can be arsed with the detail :ayatollah: :D :

Taking it from the top......
-Sam came in, and was initially only going to put a couple of Million in, then he got totally wrapped up in the whole 'dream' of
being bigger than Barcelona and got totally carried away.
-Okay, it appears he was apparantly a bit of a 'hard task master' at the club and wanted his way on everything, but let's remember he/his Langston company (?) took on the debt when Citibank got cold feet loan wise so ended up being the 'sugar daddy bank'.
-Add to this the falling out with an ego-manic Council leader (who was as camp as a row of tents) Sam effectively alienated himself from getting the stadium approved, as a result of sticking two fingers up at Berman or indeed enteertaining sharing the new ground with the eggers.
-Things get scary as he personally runs out of cash to run CCFC as a cheap hobby, hence Black Friday and in hindsight a bitter lesson to learn regarding 'spending to succeed' too soon
-Ridsdale arrives and soon shafts Sam by jumping ship to PMG, and as a result, Sam departs as biggest creditor by a mile but UNSECURED (ie guaranteed NOTHING BACK) as the hedge fund promise dissappears after a couple of days and the 'old boys network' step in.
-Sam is demonised as 'threatening to take the the club down' whilst the directors lend the club money on a SECURED +INTEREST basis (nice :o ) whilst Sam/Langston see's his investmant/huge loss being second in line to the Property Opportunity boys - Money making from building (ie they are pure non footy businessmen) rather than money lost through dreaming (ie Sam thinking he could spend us to the Prem and Europe)
-Years pass, Ridsdale gives us the 'historical debt is a noose' line whist none of it has been paid to Sam, whilst PMG get their smaller loan paid back via Premier Seating etc
-At the same time 'Dreamer' Pete, goes on a bender gambling on fat old former stars (Fowler + Hasselbaink) for a bit of PR rather than being prudent, and we rack up debts to rival the Sam investment (that he still hasn't had a penny back for)
-Golden Tickets, lies and bullshit prevails fron Pinnochio Pete's direction and the Malaysians suss him out as a total fantasist and serial fibber
-Steve Borley saves the day by being genuine (and having a blockbuster book to rival Annis in his mind :D) and the Malaysians are saved from killing the deal.
-Sam is down by £20+ million, has negotiated to get pittance back versus his investment, and is then potentially going to be offered a 'swap your CCFC debt for shares instead' option
- If I were Sam - I'D JUMP AT IT (AS HE OBVIOUSLY WAS FOOLISH IN CHARGE........BUT LOVES THE CLUB)
-If I were TG - I'd get Sam in, save the club a fortune in Debt pay-off and manage the relationship by ensuring ALL decisions are based on sense and logic, not haert and wallet ruling head.
-So, in summary, we are lucky to have TG (and VT!!) but, and it's a big but, having done 31 years as a City supporter, without Sam taking us on when we were nearly dead...............we would have been dead with less than 3 of 4 thousand at the funeral....

As a final point, let's please not forget in the Sam v PR debate - Ridsdale has been paid a huge multi-million £ amount by CCFC and has NEVER put a single penny in, whilst Sam, by dreaming big like a lottery winner, has lost a fortune for getting carried away wit h his dream.... ONLY THIS TIME - AT HIS EXPENSE....
