I'm happy with that, sounds quite positive.

Sounds like there may be funds in place to strengthen then. I don't think the Malaysians want a championship club, they want a premiership club.
They're obviously sensible with their money, but I can't see them letting us sell our prized players.

Should be an interesting summer anyway.

sounds promising regards the promotion.....there keen on it as it helps them sell us as a product in malaysia so they,ll want us up soon ...so im sure dj has said we need a strong squad and add to it without losing to much....sounds good anyway.

Ceratinly sounds good.

I suppose the key to it will be the follow on from the EGM. It's ok to make the right noises now, because everyone wants and needs to hear them, but it's what happens once they are in that will be on everyone's minds.

Two ways of going about it.
- Make massive cuts, re-build and consolidate.
- Throw money at it and reap the £90m if we make it.

I can't see them throwing money at it. That would just be mental.

Obviously a few players will go, and I expect at least one to be sold. The money saved and gained will hoepfully be reinvested in a couple of solid bargain buys and 1 or 2 year long loan deals which will see us finish in the top 2 :ayatollah:

Cant say that installs confidence in me at the moment.

My fear was Dave Jones staying. I just wonder if he has the fight in him anymore. If I was in his shoes and I decide to stay I would be asking to keep our star players plus bring in more reinforcement. Reinforecement being get rid of the dead wood and bring in replacements plus extras.

If this is the case and DJ has been promised investment then that moves me onto my next fear. Has DJ still not the midas touch to bring in quality. From what I have seen this season the answer is no.

So the only answer I can see is that DJ needs to be given sufficient investment to go and get those players we know have quality. Thats going to cost and I cannot see that helping to get the business foundation set up that the Malaysians want.

ive always said it. WE WILL NOT CUT COSTS.
if you go into any casino who are the ones throwing big money around? the eastern asians, these boys are nuts when it comes to gambling.
They will throw money at this club and we will win promotion automatically, im f*cking telling you mun.
they will earn big coin not from the premier league, but from asia. They will promote us big style out there, wouldn`t be surprised of a pre season there net year.

I suspect the Malaysians have seen what DJ can do with f**k all wedge and believe with a little bit more backing
he can take us all the way.

I also fear he may not have the fight left in him to give it 100%, but we shall have to wait and see. Again though,
our team lacks a spine. From a strong confident centre-half (though Gerrard could fit the bill in time) to a midfielder
who can run a game ( McPhail ALWAYS disappears when the tackles are flying in).. then a Centre Forward who can
hold the ball up, hold off defenders and lead the line. Given the right motivation, that could be Jay. On form hes
unplayable in this division. We also need a goalkeeper who can command his box, Marshall fell down badly last week
but I think is worth another shot!

We desperately need that midfielder though, someone who can tackle, pass, head a ball, shoot and grab a game by
the scruff of the neck. I think if City had Charlie Adams we'd have gone up automatically. But DJ has consistently
failed to find us a midfielder who can run a game when the tackles are flying in.

I think they'll probably try to restructure the players wages to be more Performance Related.

When you cut costs, you look at the biggest source of outgoings. Personally, i dont think we will sell/lose more than one of our (better) players, I understand the Malaysians want success fast, so they will still have to provide the Wonga to get some quality players in. Hopefully a few (recognised player) loan signings from the Premiership.

With no money DJ buys players like McCormack, Bothroyd, McNaughton, Gerrard, Marshall and Burke... with money he buys Hudson, Taiwo etc... I think the board are happy not giving him money. I'd rather see them throw money at keeping our current lads. Remember last year when they learnt from the heartache of failing to reach the playoffs? They learnt from that and qualified.

I know a large percentage of the players didn't give it everything on Saturday but how many of them will do the same if we get there again next year? A lot of people were really hurt after Saturday, including the players. I was angry at them but I have faith they won't let us or themselves down again.

Keeping Joe would be fantastic and would be a massive statement of our ambition.

"Dave also presented proposals to club representatives that were accepted by all"

The most interesting line in that piece. No manager is going to go into a planning meeting and put forward proposals to drop the budget and not strenghten.

To me, this is a very good signal as to a very positive Summer.

Unles they said, "DJ, you can keep your massive salary as long as cuts are made elsewhere. Now, what's your proposals?" :D

I'm glad DJ is staying, only fair to give him another crack, hopefully with money to spend we'll go that one bit further!

I'm going to wait till August to decide how go the squad is...

Going to be a great summer hopefully! DJ will have no hiding place if he fails next season after spending!!

If the board sacked a manager who has been improving us every year then I'd be seriously worried for the future of our club. Glad they've seen sense! :ayatollah:

McCormack cost £120,000 compo. Bothroyd cost £300,000, Gerrard cost £220,000 Marshall cost £500,000

 Very true. I did phrase that badly. I think Jones works better under monetary pressure though.
