I would have thought a good leader at center half would have been his top priority after last season,then two good center midfied players,with one who can win the ball and another who can get forward,then a striker in the Jay mold.
oh and buy some players who can think for themselves and change the shape of the side a bit when things are not going quite right.......and players at the back who can concentrate for 5 mins after we have scored.
