Where do you Ancestors come from ?

I was born in Cardiff.

Fathers side Alexandra in Egypt
Mothers side Bury Lancs England

My father's ancestors hail from Oxfordshire where they were pretty well to do owning coal exchanges in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. My Mother's ancestors are from deepest darkest Torfean up the Varteg.

That said I don't really know anyone on either side as there was a big feud back in the 1930's when my posh Grandmother married my rouge of a Grandfather with the details of how they met were never getting a mention.

The best part of having a South-African grand-father is tha fact that, if i go on holiday, I go black within the first day of being there.

Unfortunately, yes, I have English, Irish and Scottish blood in me I think. My immediate family is Welsh with three grandparents Welsh and one English, but he moved from England very young. After that it's a fairly strong Welsh/ English divide which then goes back to being Celtic again! Strange!

Mostly West Wales and one from Somerset - funnily enough all came to Cardiff earlier last century looking for work - bloody immigrants!

mothers side came from roath area of cardiff,her uncle was a well known councillor,jack brooks.
fathers side came from imber in wiltshire,they came in serch of work in the 1800,s in the mines.
so another half and half on the message board ,so i,ll stick with mam,s side and sing,
"cardiff born ,cardiff bred,when i die i,ll be half cardiff dead"....lol

Born Cardiff, Father Spanish [Barcelona], mother English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh. Im confused.

It is amazing how many people have Irish anceestory. I read once that nearly 150m people worldwide can claim to have decended from the Emerald Isle.

Mum was born in Cardiff, my dad in Newport.

It goes back a few generations like that (Grandfather's family is Irish). Further back than that on my dads side, he said that we were Jewish, and that my great (x???) grandmother was disowned because she married someone who wasn't Jewish. Apparantly they owned Bournville before it was sold off.
