make sure u stay central to the towers, it all revolves around there.
tube is good but does not go everywhere.
good tourist bus which does a circuit of the city, drop on dropp off etc.
takes in the large ferris wheel, central market etc.
closer to the towers u stay the more expensive it is.
do not expect anything like thailand if you know what i mean
go onto penang if you have a chance.
only a 40 min flight.

spent 2 months travelling around the place about 10 yrs ago. lovely country, quite diverse from the highlands with its old red phonebox's to the islands north of penang, Langkawi isit? maybe thats where you should head. KL is a good modern city, got it all....

in kl try in stay near chinatown it's a good area, and if your going to any of the islands try langkawi it's a duty free island no tax, asiarooms.com is a good site for booking hotels i've used it many times hope you all enjoy your trip i wish i was going
