O/T ISO 9001

Wed Jun 09, 2010 7:50 am

Has anyone dealt with bringing this into their company? If so how easy was it and who did you use?
Also looking into 14001 & possibly 18001. Got to see if they are suitable first though.
Thanks in advance for any help and advise!

the amount of work involved and how difficult depends on the size of your company and what you do and materials used !!!
Do you have an environmental Policy
Waste Management Policy
Aspects and Impacts Register
Do you have any emmisions points are they monitored
etc etc

I would suggest you start at the www.hse.gov.uk website, the guides are good and you will be able to relate to your workplace to get an idea of what is involed

I implemented iso 2001/9000 a few years ago through a company called QMS(Quality management systems)
This can be as easy as you want or as difficult as you want.
The key is to have procedures pertanent to your business, and of which can improve your business.
QMS are also a little lenient on their annual audits.
Plus a lot cheaper than the big boys.
Pm me if i can be of any further help

Quality systems can be easy and effective
Not boring and a issue to implement

Chucky.

Got an ISO14001 Audit on Tuesday  . I did implement both 9001 and 14001 myself and to be honest I just printed out the standards which are available on line and worked from them. The main thing is keep it simple and don't create a massive paper trail for yourselves. Once you understand how both systems work its fairly straight forward but bloody time consuming. Make sure if you use a consultant they don't just copy and paste from an other manual as quite often they just get you through an audit but the QMS doesn't actually benefit your company which is the main reason for setting it up.
